2011 Buick Regal Turbo

LHU Engine, 2.0L ECOTEC DOHC 4-cylinder SIDI (Spark Ignition Direct Injection), VVT (Variable
Valve Timing) intercooled turbo and E85 capable (220 hp [164.0 kW] @ 5300 rpm, 258
lb-ft of torque [348.3 N-m] @ 2000 rpm)

So, I don't know a TON about this new engine, but I do know that the ECU is NOT a Bosch unit, and the turbo is slightly different. Other than that, I'd love to know if anyone has any thoughts on the LHU giving us more E85 options.

All the DI GM's use the same injectors and mech fuel pumps.

If it's e85 capable, that's good news for LNF's.

All?? Including all of GM's high performance DI lines set to come out in 2012 I believe? In particular the Corvette engines? If that's the case then maybe they are using some sort of a multipump system with 1 per bank. ::shrugs shoulders::

All I know is the fact that so many manufacturers are converting over to DI (GM will be exclusively DI supposedly by 2012) opens the door quite a bit more for platforms such as the LNF to expand. Even though the cobalt aftermarket isn't exactly steller, the demand for DI support on the Corvettes should carry over hand and hand especially if they do use the same pumps and injectors.

Yep.

Talked to someone who went to school to learn about all the future GMs.

LLT Camaro injectors are smaller then LNF injectors. Turbo Regals are set to be flex fuel in a couple months, which will most likely mean larger injectors will be used. I would expect some type of pump upgrade as well. Its pretty easy to max the current pump on E85.

Not at stock power though.

The thing that is more interesting than anything is the PCM being different, because I doubt the make MAF changes like LNF users do to compensate for the different 'stoich'

And I correct my statement: all the turbo DI fours have the same injectors.

Flex fuel turbo Regals are supposed to be optimized for E85 and the ECM will change the tune for lower percentages of ethanol based on alcohol sensor readings. They are talking about some pretty significant differences in power output.

What's interesting is that some of the older ECMs already have flex fuel charts in them. They just aren't enabled. I always wondered how difficult it would be to convert existing Cobalts to flex fuel the "right" way.

To **** with us all...

I hope the injectors are the same... A bigger pump and new injectors would be a simple enough mod with a good tune. Maybe a new ECM too but if E85 starts being more available around here I might have to look into this.

GM will be using the old Delphi ECM's for the new Regal turbo. Have you looked at a cruise lately? Delphi ECM. Sucks

I said maybe a new ecm but that is only if this one can't run the lnf on e85. I'm pretty sure someone could tune for it. Term is amazing so if this injector/pump swap is possible he will get the call... First e has to become more readily available here.

GM News - United States - News

The ECM for the LHU is a huge step forward. Most importantly, it should be a good step in controlling direct injection at higher rpms much better.

If only the powertrain was in the Cruze instead of the Regal...
