Probably just a cable clamp issue. I don't know the procedure on adjusting the clamps, but if you look under your cup holder and look at the plastic white clamps, make sure they're not snapped.

My car has just had to have the 2nd gear syncro replaced. So has a few other members that I know about. I would guess your 2nd gear syncro is going out, if it is a grind up shift or down shift at any rpms over idle. You could check your cable clamp as it could be broke or out of adjustment but I bet it is going to be your syncro.

I'd say check easiest thing first, u have floor mats? If yes, if they slip under the clutch peddle it doesn't disingage properly and u'll grind, Iv had that happen. If that's not it, check cable linkage, if that's ok, probably ur tranny. Warrenty

Pretty sure it's your 2nd gear synchro. Same exact thing happen to mine after my brother drove my car. Dealership ended up replacing my whole transmission. I don't think it could be the cable since mine has always needs adjusting out but never causes me to grind a gear.

It's your syncro's, most likely the dealership will replace it with a new one, and over look the big turbo setup.. if I was you, I would stop driving the car, until it's fixed.. grinding the teeth off will cause more problems..

I've replaced about eight F35's already at my shop, the cable could have snapped but after what you stated, it's the syncros.

FYI: if it did snapped it wouldn't fully engage into the fourth., it would grind as well..

I forgot you had an upgraded turbo. That might cause some added stress on the tranny.

i had the same problem with mine years ago. i made the adjustment and its been
fine ever since. i'm not saying that it isnt your syncros , but this is a fairly easy
try. check this thread i made a long time ago. bunch of pics and explanations on page
two. easy way to see if your out of adjustment is put the car in second gear, and feel between the shifter and the back of the housing (pushing straight down on the boot)
you should be able to slide your fingers between it at least. if its too close, your probably
out of adjustment.
