31mpg with ZZP Intake Tube?

I installed the ZZP intake tube last Friday, and now I am getting unusually good gas mileage. In the process I cleaned my MAF with CRC mass air flow cleaner. I have the stock filter with the air box mod..

I have put about 250miles of mixed driving since the install, and the avg is 31.8mpg. I am seeing 40mpg on the highway. Most of this was on the same tank of gas that I was getting 24 on (I know because I was monitoring it closely before the install). My car has always hovered around 24.4 and 24.6 avg mpg, and typically around 26-29 hwy. I keep a pretty good eye on it, reset it often, and I have never gotten this good of mileage. According to the RPD my AFR seems pretty stable around the 14.7 mark.

Am I running lean or did this just improve the air flow efficiency that much? Could the MAF cleaning have something to do with it? With the stock filter, I wouldn't think that it would change much. I guess there is no way of knowing without logging, but I am not very familiar that. What is the easiest and most affordable way to log?

I wish my right foot didn't weight 2 metric tons... Its so hard to keep it off the go pedal. OP you must drive that thing like Ms. Daisy is having a mamosa in the back seat.

Na, I rip around my fair share. I have WOT'ed several times since the new tube. The first 20-30 miles were nothing but aggressive driving (there is a slight felt powergain on the top end fyi). I just took some co-workers for a lunch ride, and was roasting the tires, it didn't seem to affect the 31mpg...

wow, i lost a TON of gas mileage with the AEM tube on stock airbox... i think that was due to the weird surge tho.

has anyone thrown one of these on a stock car before/after dynos?

*side note*
how much louder is the car? i noticed a big difference in sound swapping from AEM tube back to stock...

I think there have been a few zzp tube dynos, if you search around you might find them. I saw people claiming between 7-15 horse, but those were not on stock cars.

I don't notice a difference in noise, probably because of the stock filter absorbing all the noise. I bet if you had a k&n, the zzp tube would be slightly louder than the stock tube.

I didn't dyno mine, so I can't testify to total gain, but it picked up a little on the top end, I did the airbox mod at the same time, and have a K&N drop in, as for the increase in loudness, yes it's a little louder, but mainly under low boost because I've got a catless dp, so when I go WOT all I can really hear is the exhaust...but you can hear it sucking air around 1-5psi, whereas with the stock tube I never heard it actually sucking, just turbo noise.

i could tell a pretty big difference in noise in general with the stock paper filter in place still with the AEM tube is why i ask... it sucks now, all i hear over 5psi is exhaust lol...
