4.05 lsd
Really depends on boost ramp, driving style, and how much you get on it. Also you will need to control wheel hop as that will eat any trans. It's better than a stock lnf tranny but if you drive it like its stolen just because it's a 4.05 doesn't mean it will last.
That's what he said, you better upgrade those mounts and spend on a nice boost control unit or you'll be replacing the trans before you know it. Most guys even factory turbo run at least the rotates front and rear, ottp has decent price on them.
Boost ramp it.
I am about to run a ZFR on my stock trans. It will be fine. Going to boost ramp a moderate tune and get as close to 400whp as I can.
Dont boost high in the low RPMS and you should be fine.
Do not install a super grabby clutch either. You want something you can slip in.

Speaking from personal experience:
Stock turbo on e47: The bs myth that you will be ok if you only go WOT at high rpms and the clutch will slip before the tranny breaks = BS
my stock 3.82 let go on a 3rd gear pull starting at 3800 rpms and blew at 4800rpms with a stock clutch slipping until 4500rpms, as soon as it grabbed a bit at high rpms, BOOM.
ZFR and my 4.05 lsd swap, very small mild boost ramp, coming in full boost 25psi between 3800-4000 rpms, no issues for 18,000 miles. Ky stage 3 clutch too.
Wheel hop will kill it, driving it like a mad man racing everyone and everywhere not a good idea, rev matching on downshifts helps a lot taking a load off gears.
Oh and I'm running factory mounts too.

A boost control is not needed, its all in the tune.

My stock trans has about 100k kms on it, have changed fluid 3 times, ky clutch that slipped on Zfr at hard pulls, did a lot of hard pulls tuning for Zfr and meth. With boost ramp and starting in 3rd, at 3k rpm. It's taken the abuse so far. Now I'm on southbend stage 4 cause Zfr killed my ky clutch. Does not hold the tq it says it can. I'm hoping this new clutch don't take out my trans. It's a lot less harsh engaging than the ky. Ky fricken slammed in gear, sometimes it felt like I bounced off second gear or something when I shifted. Was aweful.
I think we all can agree anything short of 4.45s or a 6 speed swap is really hit or miss on good setups making decent power. Its really no fun wondering if you get on this time, is it going to let go. Gotta pay to play. I've pushed the block beyond its limits and the tranny too, ecotec is an amazing platform to a point. I now have dialed it back to a 93 octane tune 25psi and conservative timing (14* up top). I think i'm going to focus more on building a N/A V8 240sx drift car lol.
