5th gear gone

Coming down the highway shifted into 5th gear I hear clatter and no more 5th gear. Car still drove perfect 1 thru 4th. limped home and pulled front tire and the little cover on the end of the trans has 3 holes in it about the size of a dime. Looks ugly in there. 2000 miles on the car. WTF

I allready changed the computer and took off the adjustable pill mod and my dealer is a fellow racer so I think I might be OK. The car still drives so I can take it around the block so the computer can relearn itself before I take it in. Im in no big hurry as I have a big swap to get ready for this week. Ill get a Spec clutch while Im at it

Agreed! These transmissions can easily handle mild tunes like GMS1, Mild Trifecta or Mild HP. It's the cars that are agressivley tuned that have problems.

OK heres an update on the trans. The dealer ( Jim Crivilli Chevy ) going to replace it and put a clutch in for me as long as I buy the clutch. Im going with a Spec Stage 2+ and a ZZP rod. Their also going to change the power steering warranty recall. Change the oil and state inspection and program 3 remote entrys for me. The service manager races Chevy Super Stockers . Jim Boburka.

Good to hear man, I mean you can't beat getting a new tranny and then buying your own stage 2 clutch and having them put it in

I'd say a win win for you, I mean you have to buy the clutch but it's free labor

I allready bought the clutch and ZZP rod. They cant start on it till next week so that gives me time to get the parts in and drop them off.

Update on the trans. The 5th gear slider came apart and 5th gear is in a part of the trans by it self. The gears were not damaged so they dont even have to take it out to fix it. They can go in thru the wheel well take the cover off , clean it up and put a new slider in.
