Accusump Turbo After Oiler?

Any thoughts on this product? Seems like a good idea?
Here's what they say:

The Accusump Turbo After-Oiler solves the main cause of Turbo wear and failure by supplying a pressurized discharge of approximately 1 qt of oil to the hot turbo bearings during turbo spool down. This oil will lubricate and cool the bearings and prevent coke build up (which limits oil flow). Manufactured with the same design features and to the same high standards as all Accusumps. A piston separates the oil side from the air pressure side which allows the the unit to be mounted in any position and permits an air precharge. With a precharge all the oil is discharged under pressure for positive oiling and no oil is diverted from the engine until pressure is established on restart. The Turbo After-Oiler is easy to install and is virtually maintenance free.

That does seem like a good idea, but honestly how often do you go full throttle and quickly shut off the engine? That's the only time this would come in handy, perhaps on oil only cooled turbo's this would also make sense.

^^^i think thats all they are ment for. for oil/water cooled ones its not needed.

for the money(not that its a lot) i cant see it being a hard thing to let your car run after you beat the **** out of it. i mean i road race and i have yet to see one of these on any of the cars at the track and some are record holding 500+hp turbo cars. i rarely see cars with actual accusumps anymore. rule of thumb has it by the time you loose all your oil pressure its already to late but who knows. some say they work a lot say they dont. i dont know how much autox/roadcourse/drag you do op but if you dont do a ton i would just save your money and put it elseware into your car. just let it spool down properly and you will be fine.

What would be an acceptable amount of time, on average, to idle for cooling the turbo?

^^ this. Doesn't take any more than that.

Another thought for you - GM gives you a warranty on the turbo. If an Accusump were really necessary to protect/promote turbo life wouldn't they have put one on?

No don't do any tracking of any kind at the present time. Maybe do some road courses in the future - don't know. I was just browsing around and see what's new at Canton Racing/RPW. Hey if there's something that ad durability/performance to our street cars, I would be interested. From what you all say, it's work like a turbo timer I suppose and no benefit while you are getting on/off boost. Since I am not on stock turbo anymore, I though maybe it will make my S256 extend its life a little longer since I don't have the coolant hook up anymore.

I make it a point not to go wot few miles before I have to stop or just let her idles a few min. before shutting down.

the way i look at it is road coursing a car is very hard on it. especially when you get guys putting 500whp plus or more to the ground. ive never seen guys use these at all or anything of the sort. ive seen quite a few normal accusumps in cars but like i said before.....a lot of times its too late by the time it restores pressue.

if the bullseye turbos are as good as everyone says/thinks they are you will be fine just letting the car spool down normally. a lot of guys i know run PTE on the track and ive personally run a PTE and never had issues with them with daily driving, monthly track use and a few long trips. i almost did the safe with my efr setup until the car was destroyed. only difference was i ran water and oil in the efr vs just oil. water cooling is a bonus especially when you track. even the stock car i let spool down after track use and driving normally despite what people say.

Ideally, like it sounds like has been mentioned, all one really needs to do is cruise at normal speeds for a min after hard driving. Sitting at idle is not necessarily the best thing to do.
