Advice on Tune

Sorry for making a thread on this but I have such specific questions that I don't think jumping into some of the other threads would be helpfull.

Currently I have the TF Tune with the Select-A-Tune feature:

Stock Mode (CC=ON) = Stock Factory Tune
Tuned Mode (CC=OFF) = Classic Trifecta Mild (21-22PSi) Tune

And I'm looking for a re-tune this year (to take advantage of a K&N SRI) and quite frankly I'm getting more and more worried about the issues happening with LNF Motors lately. Here is what I was going to get with the re-tune please give me your thoughts & comments

Stock Mode (CC=ON) = GMS1 w/ MAF Tables Adjusted for K&N SRI with factory MAP Sensors
Tuned Mode (CC=OFF) = Safe & Conservative Tune @ 21-22PSi, MAF Tables Adjusted for K&N SRI, PE lambda value of 0.87-0.88 lambda, slightly more aggressive timing

I plan on using the Stock Mode (GMS1 File) for Autocross and winter driving and my Tuned Mode Tune for daily summer driving.

Sounds like a good idea...what are your concerns?

Well there are more and more guys cracking ring lands (seems like a new thread every couple days) and I just want to have a safe tune. I've been running in tuned mode (current TF Tune) for autocross racing last season and even though I've logged some of my runs and had Vince review them (and was told every thing was looking good) I would rather play it safe and have a GMS1 base tune to use for Autocross and then just save the slightly more agressive custom tune for goofing around on the street and the once in a blue moon that I go drag race.

The GMS1 tune is very lean in the mid rpm high load areas, I'd just get a good 22-23 psi tune with the .88 PE lambda and call it a day.

I'm looking for the safest tune possible for autocross, your saying that a custom tune would be safer than GMS1?

If you're modded beyond stock + GMS1? Yes.

And you guys would say that a tune like that (22PSI 0.88 PE Lambda) is safe for autocross? The Temps get quite high and I can't monitor KR while racing and have no way of viewing my own logs (as this is not possible with TF).

Gonna have to agree with that one. Stock and GMS1 have more knock than you'll ever get on a good conservative custom tune.

A 22psi tune @ .88 lambda is a pretty safe bet, but with any tune there's always a possibility of something going wrong.

If you get worried about temps get some ice and pack that intercooler in between heats

If you can run an EGT gauge, that'd be your safest bet. I know other autox drivers on here do.

Kind of hard to get ice on a front mount IC

We rarely have hot days here i.e. over 75°F so I'm not that worried about high temps. But on those hot days I will be bringing some ice I think.

I'd like to run an Aeroforce Intercepter (which I beleive can monitor EGT's) but currently there is no half decent solution for us guys with RPD's to mount aftermarket gauges.

I didn't want to hijack your other thread so I started this one. I'm not overly concerned about which class I'm in for autocross as when I started modding I didn't know what was allowed in STX and at this point I can only be in Street Prepared I think.

I see plenty of KR on GMS1 if the gas isn't really good and the engine isn't in a good mood. Most times the 94 octane does the trick though.

I just changed my tune. CC on 15psi and CC off 23psi. I got a little worried because of you.

Those are 60 very intense seconds

Lol why did you get worried? It sounds like most people think a properly logged 21-22PSi TF Tune should be fine for autocross

Well I'm logged and I logged my car on 20psi GMS1 parameters instead of 23 trifecta. This caused me to have to relog my 23 psi trifecta tune and I for some reason get 23 psi on both tunes and hold 21 on both CC on and off. So what I think happened is I didn't have a low boost tune.

Reading your post about ringlands got me paranoid so I emailed Vince and he said he'd lower it for me.
Now that I'm 15, I hit 20 and stay about 18 so I feel better about that, I didn't really read much else but I guess I shouldn't have worried lol.
