another exhaust thread

ok i used to have full bolt ons 3in dp no cats, with 3 inch catback no muffler. car went back to stock, sold everthing. car now has dejon sri with k&n heatshield, zzp cp with tial bov, lower cp with maf relocation, synapse updated ic, stock catback with 3 inch muffler delete. i sold all of planning on selling the car but couldnt because of the new turbo coming soon. i have a baby girl on the way and i dont want it to to loud ON THE INSIDE, so would a catless downpipe be to to loud on the inside or just outside on the stock catback? my old setup was loud but didnt no about the stock 2.5 catback.

Our cars are not loud w/o cats but w/o cats, no muffler, and no res (3 Inch ofcourse) they are very loud

Catless DP on a stock catback is gonna have a nice tone to it but it's not gonna be that loud at all

WOT it will obviously get louder but you will be fine

If the baby & mother are gonna be in the car a lot (as opposed to having another car to ride in mot of the time), I would stay stock DP if ya still have it. You definitely want stock CB and muffler if baby will be along a lot of the time!

This is actually something I'm looking at - I want the best flow at the quietest sound - trying to keep my sedan as sleeper as possible.

What would be the best setup with a Stage 1? Trifecta will be next...

I've got catless and a borla muffler, it's almost as quiet as stock on the inside.

I have a 3" Borla on my Z28, and it does a lot of crackle and pop - something I don't want too much of. Then again, I'm a little radical on that car naturally aspirated, so it does a lot of popping every time the throttle is closed. Do you see that on the Borla system on the Cobalt? Actually, I didn't think of this too much regarding the direct inject and boost - do you see much of it on any of TC 'balts with exhaust mods?

Ain't been around too many to notice!

I think pretty much all the tc balts do it. Mine did it with both a muffler delete and this borla muffler.

I have the Hahn 3" exhaust and it's as quiet as the stock setup. I didn't notice any difference in noise when I changed over except for the tone.

I wonder how long it will take until our exhaust systems are $100 on ebay like all those Honda Civic's lol.

So is the Hahn louder at WOT than stock? Or does the type of DP pretty much control the volume with an exhaust for our cars?

I was leaning toward the Hahn - don't mind the additional WOT rumble; I just don't want to call any undue attention to my sedan

Its over a year out since buying the car and I'm getting a little jonze to stick some go-faster stuff on. Thought I'd do the cat-back first, then the intake, then the Stage.....
