That was the case on one of my blowouts. The replacement was perfect, however, and still blew out on me. The lower hose clamps lasted almost 30,000 miles before blowing out on me, so just because you have lasted 12k miles doesnt mean it will continue to last.... But if you are willing to take the risk, feel free. A dent in my hood and broken A/C is all I lost...

lol true! Another benefit of these clamps! dont have to worry about over torquing, too little torquing, etc.
