cracked pistons seem to be with people running infiniboost, thats their own fault, running that much boost is crazy.

Any tune running 30psi might and have done the same. As stated above its only been people running the infiniboost tune. Not vinces problem really

im sorry, our stock turbo does not push enough air to crack a piston. Thats all these ******** who run there car out too lean up top and then expect **** to run for 30000 miles flawlessly.

Who has actually cracked a piston, guaranteed they were knockng, due to the tune, not the boost. Our turbos will never blow up our engines!!!!

i'll gladly be the slow one and stick with the GMS1 tune so my car will have less chances of blowing up :P not to say the other tunes out there aren't kick ass for power... but with more power usually comes less reliability. and even if ppl are saying this GM tune is too lean it hasn't been proven yet... and if it is in fact too lean despite DI setup differences... it's warrantied

I wonder if the people who did crack a piston had the faulty or porus(or however the hell you spell it) block?

Not yet - I haven't gotten my car over to the dyno. Been busy working on new Camaro V6 stuff and other goodies!

I have made some observations regarding the fan control, though (at least on my car).

Regardless of the speed of the fans, my HHR seems to idle at around 204-210*F coolant temperature, and it tends to come back down if I raise the engine speed up.

I have seen this on the LSx engines also (especially LS2 and LS3). People that install low-temperature thermostats get frustrated because their engine still gets over 200*F when it is idling. It seems to be part of GM's cooling system strategy where the waterpump spins slowly at idle and low engine speeds - too slow to move enough coolant to keep the engine temperature at the thermostat rating.

I do believe, though, that higher fan speeds will be effective at pulling air through the intercooler and keeping the intake charge cooler, especially on summer days at the track.

Yup - the harder you push it, the more likely you are to break something.

Last time I checked Vince tunes cars to run rich rather then lean. Although I have not seen a file on the infiniboost.

Our actual ratio is proprietary information but it is leaner than 12.0 and richer than the factory settings, which, seem to be insanely lean. They run them leaner than the new SIDI V6 in the new Camaro!

Keep in mind actual ratio at the tailpipe can be affected by many things - especially catalyst protection. I've seen original stage tune cars run A/Fs in the 11s on the dyno due to catalyst protection.

Yea I'm not gonna throw out any numbers, I've just never seen a car you tuned run very lean.

There was a local HHR SS with the GMS1 with a cracked piston/ring that happened just recently.

Nobody is safe...
