Anyone ever pop their shift linkage out?
Anyone ever pop their shift linkage out?
Today I was at the track and tried to NLS from 2nd to 3rd and my shifter went limp, i took apart my center console and figured out that i didnt break anything just popped the ball out of the seated plastic clip. Tried to pop it back in and I thought I did, but go for another run and it fell out again. This time the clip fell out all the way so i put it on the ball first and then put it into the plastic linkage piece. Has this happened to anyone? If so what should i do to prevent this from happening again?
Chevrolet Cobalt SS/TC Short Throw Shifter
its about half way down the page, but that is for the whole shifter. i couldnt find the part by itself. you would be better off emailing them or sending them a PM on here.

It happened to me after I installed my TWM sTS... I didn't get the plastic linkage pushed into the thing far enough and it popped right out in a 3rd gear pull... went to grab 4th and nothin. Pulled the cup holder out and popped it back in at like 100mph. scared the **** out of me, I thought I broke something bad. Mine hasn't happened since
As mentioned above, we actually offer an aluminum cable clamp that makes a world of difference. It's a great feeling knowing you're not going to snap your linkage every time you NLS, trust me
After breaking 3 of those stupid clips and having gm fix it I bought the whole kit from twm with 2 clamps for the side to side and back and fourth, m1 heavy knob, and base bushings and I can say it has never given me anything but perfect shifts since. I actually spent a lot of time adjusting the cables and it feels like the new si shifter which is butter. I highly recommend this for every SS. Don't be cheap it will make a world of difference.
Ill agree with all of the above. I broke 3 of those plastic clips, then finally bought TWM base bushings and the aluminum cable clamp. Best money i ever spent. Shifter feels better than new, everything thing is solid, and i have no worries of breaking/missing a gear with them. A TWM STS will be in my future
