Blowby?

So my car was needing an oil change, and I decided it was a good time to seafoam it.

I put some seafoam in the car, drove it for about 3-4 days and then changed the oil. I noticed that the oil smelled like gas, but figured it was due to the seafoam.

I put new oil in and a few days later pulled my dipstick out and it smells like gas too. Are my piston rings fried? The car drives fine and I get no smoke coming out the muffler at all.

Btw I use Mobil 1 5W-30 full synthetic.

Check compression. My catchcan fluid, when I got lots of condensation in there last winter smelled a little gasy to, but my oil doesn't, could be u do or it could be just fumes causing the oil to smell. Check it out

That's normal, the rings aren't perfect seals.

Subd. Seafoam was hyped here for awile. But recently read threads on another site about NOT seafoaming LNF'S. Have a can sitting in my house not sure to use it or not...Where's that guy(rukkee?) who was doing it every 5-10k at and how is his car holding up?

Did my compression test finally.

Cylinder 1:125
Cylinder 2:125
Cylinder 3:130
Cylinder 4:125

Pretty much the same across the board. I'm not burning oil, and while that seems low I do live 5500+ feet above sea level.

Pretty normal. Cold starts have lots a blowby so gas will get into oil.

Just dont get on the car till like 150+ coolant temp

Compression test on my car was normal, leakdown all between 4-6% and my oil smells like gas every oil change. Like said the rings dont seal perfectly and on start up you get some blowby. My car burns 0 oil so I call it good. Also when you are pushing alot of air in there you are going to get blowby no matter what.

Well that's good. I guess I was just being paranoid.

I seafoam mine just about every oil change, but only through the vac line in the manifold (not in the oil or gas tank) and the car has been great. I plan on taking off the manifold sometime soon to have a look in there to see if it's actually been doing its job or not so we'll see. I'm personally not really a big fan of dumping anything in the oil that can thin it out further unless it's for a VERY brief period and only as a flush, but I know seafoam claims otherwise.

LNF's are notorious for fuel contamination in the oil. My car has been doing that since I bought it with 9,000 miles. 30k later and it still does it and runs perfect.

if it smells strongly of fuel you should take the dipstick out and let place a drop of oil on a paper towel....if the there is a ring of fluid that quickly flows out into the towel while the oil droplet flows slowly then you likely have too much fuel in the oil. Get a used oil analysis and be sure, or pull your HPFP and make sure its not leaking internally. When they do they just dump raw gas into the oil. Becoming a fairly common.
