Battery Charge Maintainer

I don't know what this is. I noticed a lot of TC engine bays that didn't have this in the engine bay thread.

I can assume I plug this into my power outlet when I need a charge if I haven't driven my car in a long time (which would explain why this 2009 SS/TC only had 1000 miles when I bought it 4 months ago), but honestly I don't know what it is, it wasn't mentioned in the owners manual

thats not stock. So previous owner installed. Is there a plug in off of it?

I just pulled my battery and put it on a trickle charger over the winter.

There's a plug, it's left hand side of the unit, the last picture shows the plug, what's this for?

when your car is parked for a extended period of time, you'd plug that into your house power outlet. It will then keep the battery at full charge so during storage the battery doesnt die. If your battery dies it never works quiet the same after a recharge...they say.

I use one on the TA when I store it in the winter, but it's on the bench, not under the hood rattling around.

Ya got that right! I just picked up a used SS with 8600 mi on it. Found out the car had a new battery put in at 7200 Mi (it sat on dealer lot for months prior). OK..that was back in early Feb and I learned that most of the added milage was put on in early Feb and I got the car in mid June (8600)..so it basically sat around ANOTHER 4-5 months! Yep...battery went dead on me after 6 weeks! They become sulfonated when sitting in the car on a low drain. If not recharged in time they're permanently FU$$KED! I had dead cell.
