Kinda off topic here, but how do youknow your iat2 temp? The IAT on the rpd is iat1 located on the intake correct?

I have the ZZP. I can highly recommend it. I haven't owned any of the others, but the ZZP is trouble-free and has a much better mounting setup than Treadstone and MPX.

I got a Treadstone TR8, My IAT2s are literally equivalent to Ambient temp under acceleration. they sit maybe 3-5 degrees above ambient at cruising and can go as high as 15-20degrees above ambient at idle.

^Difference from ambient for both the K&N SRI and the TR8 Intercooler from the factory intercooler under different conditions (load, idle, cruise)... see if you can figure out what im doing at each test point based on the SRI temp changes. lol.

dark blue and light blue lines are the stock and TR8 IC. The two different shades of red are the intake temps at that time the IC was tested. Literally they are the same so the conditions were the same..

you have to remove the crash bar to install the treadstone?

zzp says its a direct replacment...but you have to modify the stock ic pipes?

what about the mpx? i'm looking for something that i can swap back to stock if i want to sell the car.

Out of all the ics i tuned cobalts for the zzp shown best results.. I even had the hahn pos ic that i blew up 8 times.. The zzp is a great ic. The treadstones are ok but there not a direct replacement and the are just a little better then the stock ic ( cooling wise) the tr12 is large and its to large for most on this site. In all the tuning ive done..zzp alwayswas the number one in cooling and keeping the air cool then it was.the.mpx and hahn. The treadstone is afte the others in my book

I have mine coming at the end of this week or early next week, looking forward to seeing what my IAT's are with Suncoast creations ram air hood, K&N SRI, and full ZZP intercooler kit. With any luck I will no longer need my air conditioner ;-)

ZZP FTW. Excellent quality and complete bolt-in, just bolts up in the factory location with no modifications, super easy install. Made a hell of a difference in the way the car pulls in the AZ summer heat, probably the most worth-while mod for tuned TC's in hot climates IMO.

I'd recommend buying their upper charge piping and pick the $75 upgraded silicone hoses option with the charge pipe. That way you can keep your factory upper piping untouched in case you ever want to put the car back to stock. The stock cold side piping/clamp fits the ZZP IC with no modifications.

Damn man that's crazy. I have no reason to doubt you in the least, it just seems to defy the laws of thermal exchange.. lol.. ya know what I mean?

We're using some sort of scanning software, or a hand held scan tool.

Below are pics of the ZZP IC mounted on my car with the bump on, and off. It does hang lower than others, but it's really not THAT low to really cause for any concern.

I say buy whichever one is the best bang for the buck.

The fact that part of the treadstone intercooler is hidden buy the crashbar hasn't had a negative effect on cooling for mine. They all do the same thing... The intake air transfers heat to the metal the metal transfers heat to the outside air. The basic properties of metal state that it will stay within a few degrees of the same temperature all over its surface area unless there is some crazy outside influence acting upon a localized spot.

OP- check the for sale section on here... there is bound to be someone looking to part with a stocker for cheap after an upgrade or maybe part with a nice top shelf intercooler in preparation for a sale... either way good luck.

well...im leaning towards the zzp, but why cant i keep the hot side piping?

also, i'm not having any cooling issues and dont plan on modding this car further cause it already has enough power. I just dont want to deal with breaking the stockers. So if thecheaperest is the treadstone and it cools as good as stock or better...i guess i should go with that.

yeah, removing the crashbar isnt really a big deal. You gotta take the bumper off and everything anyways, taking the crashbar off takes like 5 seconds. Treadstone IC's use the crash bar mounts.

also stock charge piping should work with any intercooler out there. Its just that the stock rubber couplers can be a real pain in the butt and requires amazing man strength. lol.

I tuned a car with a TR8 on it, I figured it would be similar to stock since its about the same size. Suprisingly it kept the temps very stable. Good cheap option IMHO.

And Ive seen the IAT2 get below IAT and Ambient on a few occasions John, but I do agree that it's not "supposed" to be possible. (Actually had an arguement with someone on another forum about it and posted a log showing it)

haha.. Yeah it's just weird to see, but I guess can't exactly argue with the log. I've definitely gotten logs where the IAT2 were lower than IAT, but I'm yet to see IAT2 lower than ambient
