Big Turbo Stock Motor?

Im wanting to upgrade my stock turbo, I want to know who all is running stock block and internals. If so how much power and boost. I'm planning on doing ZZP stage 2 cams and FMIC. I'm also already Fbo and tuned. I'd like to be 400+ on 93 possibly E85 since we just got it locally

I'm running 257 on 93 and just switching to e47 tonight 100% stock motor right now my suggestion is make a plan for your engine before you go crazy and start ordering parts I'm still on a lnf do I know it will blow some day in future. On 93 I'm guessing 415 give or take 10_15 hp my plan is to beat my motor to death and do full build in future

It's a little more complex than that. On e47 you can make 400+ on any aftermarket turbo that's not tied to the k04. But, depending on the clutch or how hard boost comes in, you may have trans trouble. Plus you also need to make sure you have rotated trans mounts, spherical rear control arm bushings, and good tires or it's all for not. On late 08 early 09 builds, there is potential for the block to get porous. Stock blocks can handle decent power as long as you don't have knock. But if you have a late 08 early 09 built car the block can develop cracks in the cooling passages at any time, even on stock turbo.
You can achieve over 400 without stage 2 cams. There have been plenty of guys running some kind of e fuel making 425-450hp.

Not with a trifecta tune.

Not sure if 7163 on 93 will get you to 500whp, but anything over 425whp is pretty crazy in these cars.

Its not as simple as just throwing parts at it. Dont expect to bolt on a turbo and cams, and be done with it. There are a lot of supporting mods you need for a 450+ whp cobalt to function correctly and be reliable.

I'll agree with ECaulk, probably not going to see 500 with 93 on a 7163, even with cams, and definatley not using Trifecta. I could see low-mid 400's, but you'll need at least some form of E-blend to get close to your goal.

What about a precision 5858 with stage 2 cams and 75# springs with e47 and hptuned??

would you recommend upgrading the pistons to wiseco 86mm and zzp 4340 rods? Or a heavier rod

That's what I keep asking myself also. Hell I went from 300-370 and it was a huge change. Next step is 425, and I'm sure I will struggle even more with traction.

Colodude is pretty close, and I think he is on stage 1 cams and probably not boosting crazy high, considering he tracks it.

I know he is, I tuned him thats why I say over 500 isn't happening without some magic dyno adjustments not sure if it was because a dynojet but we couldn't keep the boost with his stage 3 cams (zzp sent him the cam settings so I left those alone) we pushed it up to 27* timing and didn't make anymore power than 25*. Maybe once he gets the car running again we can find a mustang dyno and try a loaded pull or I need to convince him he needs a bigger air filter (I really need to make an intake dp gauge for these big turbo builds)

Just pulled up a road log and he was able to hold 27-28 (back calc'd for sea level, so here it was 29-30) all the way to 7500. I'm sure the car wasn't liking the lower load at high rpms, don't have the log of him on the dyno on the computer I have with me.

They made some stage 3 cams for a bit, he found them used (well not really used I don't think the previous owner installed them) you might be able to contact them about them, but I'm fairly certain they stopped offering them. Why idk
