Black smoke

Okay so I've had my car since August 2009. It's fully bolted and HPT'd. Lately I got cranking from my wheel when turning at low speeds, I figured it's my CV joint and I'm probably gonna replace the the whole thing. But when I'm at haulin it, my friends notice that some black smoke is coming out of my exhaust and when looking at it after my exhaust tip is just black as hell. My friend said that it could be an oil leak in my turbo. What do you think? There's been no loss in performance but it's bugging the crap out of me.

Lnf's tend to soot like a diesel when being run a little richer.

Remember:
Blue smoke = oil
Black smoke = fuel
White smoke = water/coolant

Pretty sure that's normal... especially for a Turbo car.. also I'm guessing you have a catless downpipe... at WOT black rape smoke will come out.. a nice cloud will poof out when you NLS also... its fun, try it sometime!

It's just all the carbon and crap that builds up and when you get on it, it blows it all out. As long as it's not blue or white you are good.

No it's not smoking at idle. But yea I guess it would just be like the you guys said. Maybe I need to retune it or have someone look at all the fuel tables make sure everything's running right.

okay, follow up, I had another guy look at the smoke that was coming from my exhaust. He said that it's now a decent color blue. Now what are your thoughts?

if its blue check your oil level. also check to see if your coolant is vanishing. coolant plus oil still equals blue smoke.

My 09 SS Blows out white smoke every morning for about 10 minutes. It smells kinda sweet, but it decipates as I start to drive, thought it was condensation. My coolant levels are normal. So white smoke isn't always bad.

Either it's steam from condensation or you have some amazing coolant that can somehow reproduce.
