trifecta gone bad?

Tuned my buddys cobalt, and the bypass valve flutteres as if its in limp mode, pushes 11 pounds...it has GMS1, and we soldered all the connections, and double checked to make sure its all hooked up right, it ran fine on GMS1 before trifecta. Any thoughts?

Did Vince know he had s1 sensors? I would double check to make sure he sent the right file.

Having a problem with mine as well. It's either my GMS1 Tune, Trifecta Tune...or something mechanical. My boost goes nuts at part throttle (surges really bad). Noone has figured it out yet. Just installed my "stock" GMS1 tune...it's going to a second dealer monday morning.

I first had the GMS1 upgrade done...then about a week later installed the Trifecta Tune. Ran absolutely pefect for about 2 months. Then one day, car went into limp mode....and has never been right. Doesn't go into limp mode anymore...but at part throttle..it surges like a bitch.

I've sent Vince many many datalogs and he's sent me many many updates. Still hasn't fixed the issue at all. I reinstalled the "stock" tune as well (GMS1) (hasn't been reflashed yet) and it still does it. I've done everything possible to cure the problem...but nothing has helped. I had the dealer that installed the GMS1 look at it and solider the wires....and they sent me on my way. They refuse to look at it anymore...so it's going to different dealer this Monday.

Vince thinks there is something mechanically wrong...he dosen't think it's his tune. I've also been told that the tune file could be "corrupt" and can cause issue's....but I have no idea. Just weird how it ran fine...then went down outta nowhere. I wasn't even givin' hell when it happened. And I didn't have the Trifecta engaged when it happened either.

Vince said EVERYTHING looks really good on his end (datalogs, sensors...ect.) Here is a video of what mine is doing:

Surge issue 3 - YouTube

Thought I would join this thread...to see what kinda of problems you were having and a possible *fix*. I honestly have no problem paying whatever to get it fixed...but so far...noone has a clue...

If you don't find the problem, you can schedule an appointment to drop it off with us and we will get it figured out.

Mine was doing that but when I installed my stock tune it went away. So I told Vince it was his time for sure. Without a doubt. He then fixed it. So not sure about your situation but it was tuning for me.

This might sound weird...but..."thank you". I'm glad some people know that it's not running right at all. A few guys at a previous dealer thought it was running fine & said that it was normal for a turbo car to do that...

08SS: When it went into limp mode did you have it scanned for check engine lights? Even the history? You would really have to screw something up tuning wise to have it do that. To me it almost seems like it's the map sensor or boost control solenoid. I'd double even triple check your wiring to the map sensors.

Edit: just realized they're different problems. For ND: I would try some butt connectors instead of soldering it. Also if you used shrink wrap how did you double check it? I really don't like putting any trust in the factory boost gauge. It almost sounds like the throttle body isn't opening fully or fluttering itself partially open/ partially closed. Also are you sure the bpv itself is all. If i recall some people had issues with the diaphragm itself being damaged.

KissMy already tried all that. He even replaced the wastegate solenoid. Only thing he hasn't tried is an ECM.

Well what would it hurt to pick up an ecu from ZZP and test it out? Has he tried a different factory turbo? Sounds like a shitty deal hope you get it figured out. Just trying to throw some ideas out there.

I've checked the wiring several times and also went ahead and replaced both MAP sensors. Everything checks out perfect with the datalogs I've sent to Vince. Hoping this other dealer will help me out tomorrow......

Nope...

Just as I figured...idiots.

They told me that the Vacuum Chamber is causing the problem. I've had the vacuum chamber bypassed for about 2 months now. I hooked it back up the other day because I was going to take it in. Well...the other day...the car threw a code related to the bypass valve (a vacuum line came off of the vacumm chamber). So...They are probably seeing that stored code and thinking that the chamber is causing the problem. But the car runs exactly the same whether the chamber is hooked up or bypassed....

That's how most techs are nowadays. If the damn computer doesn't tell them what's wrong with it, there's nothing wrong with it. Take a trip to ZZP.
