blew up 3rd gear

well it finally happend. i was hoping it never would but 3rd gear finally went. it went when i went WOT in second, shifted to third, and in mid 3rd my rpm's just shot up to redline.

i pulled over and checked everything out, i can only get into 2nd, 4th, and 5th. i cant get into 1st, feels like something is blocking it, and 3rd is just nonexistant. lol. i can feel the gate for 3rd and push it in, but theres no gear there.

needless to say, looking for a new trans. lol.

kinda figured it would happend eventually with the extra power. gotta pay to play tho.

lol. it sucks. credit card is going to take a hit. im going to get a 4.05 trans tho. preferably with LSD. dont want the one wheel peel.

Damn Man, That just flat out sucks! At what point do you start to see this starting to happen? When you start to reach _____WHP thiers a Good chance your gonna need a Tranz.

yea i can still drive it fine. just have to start in 2nd and cant put it in 3rd. no leaks. i gotta drive the thin to work soon. lol.

Its worth it. Lol. I think I found an lsj trans with lsd already. Just working the final things out and its mine. Should hold up better than the stock LNF one.

Ill probably sell it to them or someone, but I only have the money to get a new trans. Going with the 4.05 should be a slight upgrade tho.

With the stock turbo I managed to munch 3rd gear in my 4.05 w/LSD.

Went through the fun around a month ago.

New grippy clutch + Stock turbo with more boost + Stock turbo TQ spike = Even more of a chance that your tranny will let go...especially if you NLS :p

Unless you had one tire fire on your lnf trans how is the lsj one going to hold better? It's the same transmission only older... have you checked the roll pin and shift cables? Cause even if you broke third you should still have first and fifth!

If this is the case, just get TWM STS with Shift linkage clamp

Putting the LSJ 4.05 trans in an LNF you are putting less stress on the gears from the gear ratios being longer, if i remeber correctly.

Dart, sorry to hear man, but congrats on joining the club, lol. My car has trans #3. It was installed back in april under warranty, lol. Gotta love working for a stealership!!! Good Luck on getting her fixed and back running

I would if i drove the car more than 50 miles a week. Holding off on driving it until the GTR is ready to run. Then ill break it. That or when the 4.45 trans arrives which ever comes first.


Edit: Im starting to think i just need the GoPro on anytime i got wot so that i get my unedited reaction to the transmission blowing up.
