Blow by? or turbo seals

I recently had a retune to 24lbs on the car. I put in new stock plugs and last night, noticed the car was idling a lil funny. Well after further review of driving down the road, i noticed smoke coming out the exhaust after the turbo spooled. Idling and driving out of boost, there is no smoke, but after boost, white smoke comes out the exhaust. Tonight i took out the plugs i just put in and noticed the #4 cylinder plug was black as all the others are white. Any info as to what the problem may be would be greatly appreciated. I have pic but am unable to post them in the thread

Oil should be dark grey or blue smoke, fuel is blue smoke and water is white.

Well mine had the same exact same problem..and white (more white than any other color) came from the exhaust..and i was told it was my turbo seals...so i bought a new turbo and swapped it out and it runs like a charm..no more smoke!

So assuming you diagnosed the vapor-ish substance correctly..and know its smoke (smell is another give away) then i would say turbo seals

Would injector seals be a problems well or that would be a constant smoke rather than just under boost

Did you recently change your oiL? One time i added a little too much oil on my oil change and the car white and blue smoked after getting on it when i came to a stop. It was just blowby but had the same symptoms your having. just a thought

Injector seals leaking will give you a fuel smell under the hood and low compression, not smoke in the exhaust.

well the smoke comes out when I release the gas pedal and being under boost. But I also have the problem of having a choppy idle as well the number four spark plug having oil on the tip of it. All other plugs were fine.

ring going out? id take that in for warranty. if it was the turbo leaking oil you would have oil on every plug. a single plug means there is something wrong with that individual cylinder. Bet its a cracked ring... Prolly going to let loose any day now. Id take it in asap before more damage is caused.

You can try a compression test on that cylinder. See if it leaks down any after a 5-10min wait. plus cylinder pressure should be about 160 so if four is lower than the others youll know for sure

Edit: just read your mod list.... almost guarantee you its a ring. Your using infiniboost... What boost did you request or are you running? 28-29psi?? That tune creates so much heat with our small turbos it will stir up all sorts of problems. If it was your turbo u wouldnt be able to boost corectly. probably low or no boost at all.

It was set on 27lbs for a while and was recently changed to 24. But If it was a cracked ring, wouldn't it constantly smoke whether in or out of boost

Done a compression test last night and revealed that cylinder four was around 75-80 lbs where as all other cylinders were showing between 150 and 160. When number four plug was pulled, no oil or any residue for that matter was on it. But there hasn't been any boost to that car since they were installed, so looks like it is one of the rings or ringlads.

Did the dealer give u a run around as far as warranty work. They tried to say I had tons of aftermarket stuff under the hood, all thats there is charge piping and k&n intake.

took the balt to where it was originally purchased, got motor replaced and picking up tommorow. They said it was a valve but if they just fixed the head, they figured i would run into problems later on down the road so they just replaced the whole engine.

Great news! Glad to hear you will back on the road soon. Just remember if you tune it again do not go over 24psi. In fact Id probably see if you can run just a tad bit more timing and lower boost to 22.
