Boost pressure

Idk if this is normal or somethings wrong. I have an intake and im tuned with the Bsr Ppc. When im at WOT I hit about 23-24 psi and as the rpms are going higher the boost slowly drops down to 20 psi. Im just wondering if thats normal or I have a boost leak or something.

I like the power I got from the tune and im stuck on what I should get next. Im either going to get Hahn exhaust, Hahns catless dp, or hahns charge piping. What do you think I should go with.

One more question with the catless dp, in Texas if I dont have a cat but im also not throwin any codes will I pass emissions?

Thanks

The boost "issue" you're having is actually normal. Nearly all tunes will do something similar too.

If I was you, I'd leave the exhaust alone from a performance standpoint. I'd look into the downpipe and charge piping though. Downpipe is a big performance and sound mod in one. The charge piping is a slight performance mod, but is more of a just-say-no-to-plastic mod so you don't have any issues with the increased boost.

I went catted because I didn't want to deal with the emissions stuff and my emissions system in my car possibly failing me due to too many "NOT READY"s at the inspection shop. There's a big difference between stock and catless, but not so much difference in flow between aftermarket high-flow catted and catless (I've heard like 5% difference). It's just preference really. That's just why I went with the catted.

You shouldn't have any issue with a clogged cat or anything unless you're running super rich (like in a bad way).

And the sound.. oh it's wonderful. You hear all the pop, whistles, gurgles, etc. The sound will deepen and mellow a bit too as you put miles on it and break it in.

If you decide to go catless, just remember to slap the stocker on a few days ahead of time so that the emissions system says "READY". You'll have less chance of a fail that way.

It depends on what county you're getting inspected in. I know that Travis County (Austin) does the sniffer at every yearly inspection. You will fail without a cat.

With counties that don't have the sniffer inspection, it just depends on the inspector. If the inspector actually looks for the cat and doesn't see it, you'll fail. Most don't look, though.

I would just go with the catted DP. The catless seems like it's too loud, anyway.

Yeah, you'll probably think it's too quiet.

I have Clear Image's catless - not loud at all. Muffler Deleter AND Catless, then you're looking for troubles

No I dont want it to be to loud. I love just hearing the blow off that the intake gives it.

Sorry but what exactly is a muffler delete

Didnt feel like reading all that but you will notice boost drop because of stock restrictions in the turbo system on the intake sides and the exhuast sides and our lil turbos have a hard time maintaining boost in high RPMs. and you will see boost spikes on inicial boost build and between shifts and will drop off some.

A muffle delete is where you cut ur muffler off and put in a piece of pipe or nothing

For some reason this doesn't apply to my car. Last night I boosted 19.5 on a stock tune on the high end. I'm convinced either something's up or my car's a freak or something.

exactly as it sounds. you get rid of your muffler. You replace the muffler with a straight pipe. Sounds good on stock DP, hideous on catless DP though.
