boost problems

hey all! i haven't been on for a while, but have a couple questions

ok, as some of you may know, i'm tuned... well every day up until i'd say monday it would spike 27psi, and drop to 22 and hold strong

well, the car's been feeling a bit sluggish, and i noticed today that it would hit 15psi, then slowly creep to 22 psi... my first guess would be a vac leak, but i checked everything, and it all seems kosher...

my second thought was perhaps the weather change has a factor in this? it has been getting a lot more humid and quite warmer recently... if it was the weather, would an upgraded intercooler solve the problem?

my mods are as follows

hahn modpipe catless
hahn catback
dejon intake
dejon c/p
hks ssqv bov
tune

Check the intercooler...might have a minor crack somewhere if you hit a rock or something...

You can test air leaks on the piping or intercooler using the same technique for checking tire leaks.....get some very soapy water and put in on the parts you suspect might be the culprit....turn on the engine and let it idle....if the water bubbles up with suds in a particular area, thats where the leak is.

ok, so you guys think it IS a boost leak? are there any common areas for these cars to leak air from?

From what you described, boost leak seems most likely...the warmer weather would actually increase the required boost on a learn down setup since hot air is less dense then cold air.

Do the process of elimination...start with each one, test drive it and then if the problem still remains, go to the next.

1.) Check the air filter, clean if required (Could be some blockage)
2.) Check all the charge piping and tighten everything down.
3.) Test the intercooler and piping via the "soap test" listed above
4.) Check the BOV...make sure it has proper sealing.
5.) Check exhaust system (some loose piping could throw your ECU out of whack)
6.) Clean MAF sensor (if dirty it will not read properly)
7.) Check the tune (possible there is something fundamentally wrong with the setup)

If you are STILL not getting boost, I would start investigating the turbo....its possible you have been overspinning it and damaged the bearings.

cracked intercooler, charge pipeing not tightened enough, could have come loose some.

ECU is shutting the party down.... Your car should not be spiking past 24 psi with your tune.... 21-23 psi ......... Who tuned your car?

my buddy jason... but i don't see how that is relevant to the question... i understand if the car boosts more than 23psi than it goes into limp mode, but that's only if you hold it for over 3 seconds, that has nothing to do w/ the problems i'm having

check ur intercooler pipping, check 2 see if the clamps are tight..also check the vaccum lines thats goes 2 the wastegate, see if that is fine...then check the vaccum line that goes 2 ur bov see if it popped off...even if the line popped off the bov u would hear a loud woooshhhhh and maybe metal sounds hitting...if everything is ok i think in my opinon it might be a faulty wastegate...also check on ur intake where ur maf senor goes..see if its on right..probably not giving a proper reading
