It seals better than the stocker and it closes a little faster after you lift to shift that decreases spool time some. It sounds better if you have an aftermarket intake, and even as the spring sags and looses tension over time it will still have more holding force than the stock spring when new. There you go

Personally, I would like to hear a better technical explanation of how this part works (the BPV and stock spring). When I look at the pics of a disassembled one in the other 10+page thread, it looks like the spring is overcome by engine vacuum when you want the turbo's excess airflow to bypass entering the engine...and that boost pressure PLUS the spring pressure closes the valve when you don't. So on one hand you may be assisting the valve in sealing off the path of boost with extra spring pressure, but it seems the engine vacuum has to overcome that extra spring pressure to allow boost to bypass entering then engine. Therefore, I don't know if it's a true fix if your having minor boost leak issues.

Can someone (preferably someone who knows for sure) elaborate a little more on how this part functions.

The spring is attached to a plunger like diaphram that seals the BPV shut while the car is under boost. When you let off to shift the throttle closes and creates a vacuum in the little black line that connects to the BPV that pulls the valve open on the throttle is depressed again the vacuum no longer exists and the spring slams the BPV shut. When you let off the engine is at 20lbs vac the spring rate is 9 lbs/in. stock the aftermarket one is 13lbs/in. 20 lbs vac will open it all the way everytime.

Yes, the spring will help shut the valve when the engine is operating in little to no boost and no vacuum. But, the same way the hose opens the valve under vacuum - it closes the valve under boost as the hose becomes pressurized too. That's my point....

Yep, but the stock spring get kinda weak over time and it looses its abiltty to close and seal as well. The New spring Definately helped reaction time of the turbo between shifts IMHO, and it sounds crisper when it releases.

My spring a a tad bit shorter then the stock also I guess to compensate for the extra tension of the sfter market spring. I dunno about anyone else but my car never spiked 24.5 psi until I installed this spring so it seems to me at least in my case it does its job and picked me up about 1.5psi I dunno what would have caused this but before the spring I was spiking 23 and droping off to 22 now I spike 24.5 and drop off to 22.5

I remember seeing a thread with pics that covered how to install the spring. It looked really easy.

It does make it quite a bit louder and the BPV sounds like a BOV...spool time seems to be better as well.

if you wanna know what you will sound like with an intake just take your filter out and drive around the block HUGE differance (just make sure to put the intake back in)
