anything short of a ferrari, lambo or unless you run a full $15,000 race tranny, the majority of oem paddle shifters are just glorified electronically controlled full manual valve bodies.. a well built electroglide, or turbo 400 with a full manual valve body will pretty much never be out performed down a drag strip.. especially for the low cost of building one

I love a full manual tranny so don't get me wrong here, I'm just making some points that people have misconseptions about in regards to auto transmissions

Like I said, a GOOD paddle shift will always be the best of both worlds. Put a powerglide on a road course and you'll run slower than you would have with the stock tranny. I consider "good" paddle shift trannies to be ferrari built and I drive one on a regular basis.

I thought I left this all behind me when I left the last thread! I guess it will never go away. It's no wonder they call it a pissing match.

Didn't the Grand National have an option for a 3-speed manual...? At least at some point in their run I thought they did.

The regular regal had the option of a 3spd in the late 70's(and maybe early 80's) in the 2nd gen, but the turbo cars where all auto's I believe.
