CAI to SRI Retune Needed?

My car is a Trifecta tuned on a CAI right now, but I'd like to switch over to a SRI so I don't have to worry about hydrolock. The ricer inside me also wants to hear the BPV dumping air. Do I need a retune?

Just monitor your fuel trims before and after and see how off it is. If it's +/- 5% then I wouldn't retune.

If I need to retune then I don't intend on doing the swap

You will be fine. Just go with the K&N SRI and don't worry about it. Trifecta already runs rich so i'm sure your tune will be safe as hell.

If that's the case, then an SRI will probably make it run even richer. Is the ECU not smart enough to compensate for the loss of air mass?

You are assuming the difference in temp is major. While moving the intake temps are similar. Especially after turbo after intercooler

Thank you both. I'll see if I can buy an SRI locally so that if it doesn't work then I can return it.

Yeah I may do that if I end up deteriorating the unit beyond reasonable condition.

On another note, what is the best way for me to monitor STFT and LTFT? Are these part of the standard OBD diagnostics protocol or are they a part of GM Enhance diagnostics?

If they are standard then I plan on writing my own datalogging software in Matlab to interface with my Trifecta black box.

U don't hear the bpv with the cai? Weird I did. Anyway trifecta tunes suck with fuel trims anyway usually decently out, so I'll actually probably improve then with the switch

Cheapest way is Bluetooth adapter + Torque App for Android. Less than $30 total.

Amazon.com: BAFX Products - Bluetooth OBD2 scan tool - For check engine light & diagnostics - Android ONLY: Automotive

You should be able to use the Torque app and edit the PID's. Should give you an idea of the inputs necessary for each PID
