Shooting flames is pretty much impossible with a cat so if you still have a cat I call major BS

no its not, if its running super rich, all you need is a backfire to lite that **** built up in the cat. Ive seen it on several chrysler products ive worked on.

not completely imposible, it's been done on my car and a few others I've seen. Just makes it a little more difficult.

Really? Like I have seen it but it was on really old cars, never on anything new.

I thought it was impossible so I guess I will be quiet.

it was easier on older cars because all the gas would accumulate in the muffler, and being so hot, could flash ignite. The honeycomb design in the cat helps keep the gas spread over a greater area to help lower the possibilites of flamin' exhaust.

I got this same issue on my vtr1000 superhawk 996 when it runs to rich. All the friends think it is great but it just means it is time for a good tuneup and resinking of the carbs. I would say get someone to do a tune on it.

No lift to shift is done differently on each car, some cut timing or fuel, i know that the ss/tc also changes cam timing during a shift. If it makes it pop a flame out back who cares, its a factory feature.

Yeah, you're just running stupid rich. Get a tune to lean it out and it will stop I guarantee.

TUNING WILL NOT STOP THIS. Do people really not know how the no lift shift works? If it was a ss/sc that was shooting flames, then it needs a tune. I can bet that cars with the wot box also shoot flames. its caused from what the computer does to make the no lift shift possible. YOUR CAR IS FINE!

I have to disagree, you get it lean enough and there's no way you're going to be shooting flames, no lift shift or not.

There just simply won't be enough unburnt fuel left after a tune to ignite, especially after a cat.

I mean, that's my opinion, I could be wrong but I've never heard of stock cars shooting flames unless it was running rich as hell.

Have you done any runs on DR's? Sounds like you got major issues hooking up, 400 hp tends to do that though.

In order for a flame to make it all the way to the tailpipe, there has to be sufficient fuel to allow the flame to make it all the to the tailpipe. Enough fuel to make it to the tailpipe is way to much. Chances are you're not no lift shifting fast enough.

Now throw on top of it the fact that he has a cat. Enough fuel to get past the cat and still have a flame at the tailpipe is stupidly rich.

I know how no lift shifting works. I'm not new to the game. Every PROPERLY tuned car I've seen with no lift shift, does not and will not shoot a fireball.

kthxbye

I run on dr's, last few times out at the track were just testing days to get the suspension right and relearn how to drive the car. I was really babying it out of the hole and not going WOT til 3rd gear (trying to keep my tranny in one piece lol) next time out though I'm shooting for 11's.

do you even know how no lift shift operates? it cuts spark, you're still getting fuel. If you don't shift fast enough you will get the fireball no matter what hell my car does it at the end of a pull (I do have it richen up up top though to bring cyl temps down)
