Catless with stock exhaust
Hey guys,
Something I've been wondering for a while is what downpipe will give me the best sound with the stock exhaust? I'll likely look into getting a catback at some point in the future, but since they don't yield very much power gain- it isn't on the top of my priority list.
The deeper the better really (which most of us can agree on). I've never really come across a straight answer. I've checked out plenty of vid clips but none of them seem to do any justice. I feel like they aren't exactly how they would sound in real life (although I could be wrong). I have to admit: for a 4cyl car- the stock exhaust sounds pretty damn good. However I find with a lot of the clips I've been checking out that the catless DP ruins the tone a bit? I find that they raise the pitch rather than lower it in the clips. Maybe I'm crazy though (its quite possible).
Anyways, I'm looking for some opinions and for someone to hopefully clarity for me what would sound best with the stock exhaust, or are they all pretty much the same? Thanks!

I have clear image autos 3" stainless catted dp with the cat gutted. I also have their 3" catback and i live how my car sounds. The only thing i have thats holding me back from having a complete 3" straight pipe is my muffler. I have heard stus car which has the stock catback with a catless dp and i love it. Its deep sounding and gurgles alot.

Yeah, like I said I'd like a catback very much: but more important things to come first. Yeah I was looking at the XS downpipe since they have the no shipping deal on, can't find a sound clip though. I may end up going the safe route and getting the ZZP since everyone has good things to say and it's cheap. So, no real difference in different DP tones then?

id say any difference between DPs would be minimal at most

That's why I finished the post with "looking for some opinions."
I was checking out ZZP's Ctless DP and noticed there was quite a few different options and I wasn't sure exactly what to do in terms of the O2 sensor and gaskets? Most DPs that people are selling have one option- cats or no cats. Makes me wonder what they did as far as the O2 sensor goes and what's the best route for that.

if you dont want to set off a CEL or has less of a risk of fouling your o2 sensor get the catlesss with angled o2 bung ($40), its worth it. it will keep you from having a constant CEL and even if it keeps you from fouling just one o2 sensor its paid for its self. also if you think you are going to be getting a wideband in the future go ahead and get an extra wideband bung ($10 option) it will make it much easier once you want to install you wideband you just have to screw it in the bung........until then you can block it off with a threaded plug, thats optional though.

Alright. If I'm gonna be getting a tune though is it necessary? Basically I just want one that won't mess up the fuel to air ratio, I don't know a lot about o2 sensors though.
