Changing an Intercooler on the SS/TC

Is the bumper cover removal needed to change a stock or aftermarket intercooler? If so, has anyone created a bumper cover/intercooler removal/replacement guide or write up? I have read where it can be done in an hour if experienced. Two hours if not. A write up with pics would be great.

Edit:

Couple of links to some write ups:

You mean the bumper itself?

The bumper cover has to come off. There is no way to do it with the cover on there. There are, however, two methods of pulling the cover. One involves taking out the headlights, and the other involves taking out the fender liners. I prefer taking out the fender liners. Somebody with a yellow cobalt did a write-up with the headlight removal method, when he installed a treadstone IC. Can't remember who it was.

There are a looot of little clips to remove, keep them in a baggy so you don't lose them! lol.

Removing the fenderliner is probably just as difficult or time consuming as removing the lights. But yeah you NEED to remove the bumper to get to the intercooler

Skip removing the headlights, its not necesary.

Only remove the screws that connect the fender liners to the front bumper then pull the liner back to get to the screws that hold the bumper to the fender. Easy peasy.

THIS^

I don't know why you people completely remove the fender covers, or even touch the head lights... And what do you guys mean by a lot of clips? Are you talking about those plastic push pins, or are you talking about actual metal clips, because there's no metal clips that need to be removed.

I don't know how most of you did it, but sounds like you all took half your cars apart when you didn't need to. Might as well take of the rear wheels off to get the bumper off while your at it lol, would be just as useful.

This is a really simple procedure.

Headlights and fender covers stay put. Don't make more work for yourself than you need to....

Hard to get at the fender to cover bolts without removing the headlights and brackets. Not much room to twist the 1/4" ratchet. Getting there.... just need to remove the 7mm bolts/screws underneath.
