Just installed the ZZP charge pipes and intercooler. I was a little disappointed with the location of the cold side map sensor, no room to access it. I installed them and changed over to 3 bar maps a few days later and it was a PITA to switch to the new sensors. No rrom wahtsoever with the AC lines in the way!!!

Other than that fitment was good and the install was straight forward. They even sent two extra clamps and a MAF relocation that I did not need.

ZZP is the best looking IMO, excpet maybe the DEjon if you get a custom color. I'm not a fan of the bare aluminum/chrome look of a few of the others...

i agree.
The injen is nice in gloss black, but the extra couplers puts it in price above the rest. plus, i like matching stuff...
Has anyone ever got the injen intake and made it a short-ram?

^^^Looks great...

I guess you can get the aluminum ones and just PC them a custom color, but black matches my car anyways, only other color I may have gone with was RED but I like the black crinkle coat on the ZZP pipes...

that has to be the nicest looking aftermarket chargepipe setup I've seen...

the painted valvecover sure adds to it ~ but it doesn't take away from my post...

is there some kind of special process you did?

or did a local shop do that?

It looks great!

I've never been a fan of any of hte aftermarket offerings ~ they just looked out of place;
but hte coating makes the pipes a bit more understated which IMHO make it look that much better.

No doubt, those are so clean, well done .

I'm considering going aftermarket piping this summer only because the constant hot/cold cycles in winter are going to start taking their toll on the plastic, it's inevitable. I'd rather not have a complete failure unexpectedly if something does give and fails.

Does anyone know what section charge piping is under warranty? An example would be charge piping blowing a leak after the 60,000km bumper-bumper would it still be a free fix or expired?

I can't say that I know for sure, but I would assume they wouldn't consider it to be part of the drivetrain. Some dealerships will work with you, though, especially if you bought your car there. You can probably find stock piping really cheap on here, though, where members have taken them off in lieu of replacements.

Thanks for the response SSlobalt. Never thoguht the abundance of stock tubing that's out there

And to AARON-SS-TC I will be glad to do so once warranties done with. There might be a couple mods going on at the same time then Hopefully a few newly designed products aswell for us cobalts.

Let's see...

Void warranty? - Depends on the dealer. They do have to prove that your mod negatively impacts the performance of the car or caused the issue at hand if they are going to cite it. Regardless, some dealers will be a pain and you could have a fight on your hands. Doesn't hurt to ask your local dealer right? Let their answer dictate the level if pain you may encounter down the road...

Power mod? - Some, depends what you replace it with. The oem charge piping is pretty restrictive so anything that provides a better flow path helps. I am biased towards options that have shorter path lengths but it really doesn't matter which of the two main designs you chose. Focus more on material selection, manufactuer build quality (preferably for other after market components), and reputation (i.e. customer support).

Reliability? - Yes and no.....Your current set up is plastic. Over pressure it or subject it to extreme temperature change and it will crack. Keep in mind your environment and this one will answer itself. I would venture that an un-modded car in a southern local is probably going to be fine.

This is a mod that I consider an investment mod. If you are going to keep the car or invest further into power modifications then do it. Pretty much on the same level of need as an aftermarket intercooler (stupid plastic end pieces).

Ive never had an issue with the hahn pipes ive installed... i just dont like what they r made from. Most of the time they blow off is from human error. The mouting point isnt needed. Its just an insurance policy incase it does blow off. Its a good thing to have but its not needed if the stuffs installed correctly
