Check Engine Light....OH NOOOOO
Check Engine Light....OH NOOOOO
So, I put my AEM intake back on without the foppy elbow and used the stock one instead, I have been driving fine for the last 2 weeks with it on, and it is spiking up to 23-24psi. Last night I turned on to a nice highway with a acceleration lane that is about half a mile and I floored it in second and nothing happend, the car boosted up to about 5 psi and no further. I turned off the car at the next stop light and it started boosting again but it would lag till past 5 psi. A mile later down the road the check engine light came on. I called onstar to request what it was indicating, they said it said there was a problem with the air intake system. I got home popped the hood and first of all the rubber thing that holds the charge pipe down was broken but other than that all the clamps were secure no visible leaks or problems. I disconnected the computer to reset and then reconnected but i still have a check engine light.
WTF
WTF
take the negative plug off the battery and leave it disconnected for about 30 seconds, that would clear the code(s)... it will run fine but it might happen again until you fix the problem, find out whats the code but for now just unplug the negative side of the battery for 30 seconds and put it back on...
My best hypothosis is that when the pipe popped off it twisted the rubber connectors funny and caused a choke in the system thus throwing off the air readings between the MAF and the MAP sensors. I will say the AEM CAI does make a difference on a tuned car.
I definitely think that could have happened. Im not sure what causes the CP to come off it either has to be the CP swelling cause of the increase in boost going through it, my other hypothesis is that the engine is rocking just enough to put strain on that rubber thing. I found mine was off after checking a much bigger problem, my tranny pretty much blew up haha.
