It has happened 3-4 times now I get on it for a few seconds and the "check gas cap" message comes up on the DIC. Why? any ideas? It goes away for a while but has come back. I have reseated the cap several times and the code goes away when I turn the car off. Purge cannister maybe.

 

check and make sure it doesnt have cracks in it. I had that problem in an older car.

ask maven lol i just brought mine to the dealer and they said they would replace it when they got the part it

 

Ok. Thanks. I think it is under the car near the fuel tank but I am not sure. I want to check for leaks first before I bring it to the dealer.

 

I got the 'Check gas cap' message yesterday after a moderately hard stop. We'll see if it comes up again before waisting time at the dealer. 1/4 tank of gas, 16,000 miles on the 'balt.
