Haha, that kinda thing's happened with my catted one. I was going down into a parking garage (it always crackles when you go downhill in 1st with no gas between 2k-3k) and it gave a really loud pop and then starts crackling and the guy I passed about jumped out of his skin.

It's not the CIA ones, but this came from our site gallery and is close enough to tell:

Top one is catless (no bulge/cat).
Middle is catted (has that bulge/cat).
Bottom is similar to what your stocker looks like (also has the bulge/cat... ours actually has two btw).

Hold on... found a pic off of CIA's website... Here's the catted one:

He said it was similar to ours and not the exact same thing.

Being an "old geezer" I kinda like the sound of the catted down pipe along with the stock exhaust. But I wasn't after sound when I bought it. I want performance and got it. The nice mellow roar that it makes is just icing on the cake for me. Eventually I will add the 3"cat back, if only for appearances, even if the stock exhaust is quite capable of making 500 HP. I don't see anybody commenting on the change in performance with the down pipe. It seems like the spool time is half what it was. It makes driving the car a little trickier from a stand still. If you tickle the throttle too muck the car wants to lurch. But that's all good. I like my catted down pipe.

THANKS DAN!!

I'm old, but not quite as old as you, and I love the sound with the stock exhaust as well! My car did seem like it was beaking the wheels loose a little too easy in 1st compared to before. Since the install, I have only driven the car for about four miles for a little test drive.

Def. spools quicker...and now you can hear the turbo much more clearly vs. stock.

My BOV sounds much stronger than before as well...it's deafening after a WOT punch!

see ive seemed to notice the opposite since install. i noticed that pulling out is easier and smoother and shifitng smoothness seems to be worlds better. I do agree that the turbo does spool quicker and allows for a more pronounced whistle and bov noise as well. however, i didnt feel much of a learn down period. the car didnt seem any quicker right after install. i noticed more a power surge when i first installed my sri than i did with the dp. still love the dp tho so im glad i got it.

I just bought the Hahn Catback to complete the exhaust setup, so hopefully it gives better performance and a deeper throaty sound...

Should have gone with CIA catback. It's cheaper and they would have given u a discount for buying their DP!!! Oh well it's a good catback too.

I was already quoted a price for the CIA catback...it was 150 bucks more than what I got the Hahn for. So Hahn it is.

nah, it's actually from a local college around my area when I did my first photo shoot ... the car you see in the sig isn't even the car that you saw in person.

About 5 days later that car got totaled, some lady smashed into it head on when it was parked ....

So wait:
The car they saw got smashed later... and the one in the sig is the one you have now?

or

The car in the sig got smashed later... and the one they saw was the newer one?

The way you worded it confused me, I guess because I don't know when they saw the car.

I bought my first cobalt with only a sunroof as the option in february. 3 weeks later that one (pictured in sig) got totaled. I went out and found another one with more options and same color that I'm working on now

That more clear?
