Clicking on hard accel cold start

getting audiable click noise on p.s of vehicle sounds like, happens when hard accel when cold. when vehicle warms up after regular driving for a while. give hard accel, no noise anymore. chirp click kinda high pitched.

I usually wait about 1-2 minutes of warmup/ light driving. That's it, cat warmup cycle plus a scoot to the end of the street then I get on it. Though not that hard, I live in residential.

Letting the car warm up idling for 3minutes is useless, idling a car does not effectively warm it up. Let it idle for 30-45seconds enough to heat the oil up some, then take it easy driving until the engine coolant temps reach 160, then have fun.

I've heard this too. Why is it so bad for direct injection engines to idle?

Idling for more than about 30-45 seconds is a waste of fuel and does almost nothing to warm up your vehicle. Driving it lightly is more effective at getting the oil warmed up and flowing than idling.

Idling is better than not letting it warm up.

6 one way half dozen the other.

Excessive idling causes valve coking with direct injection and you waste excess fuel by using idle load to warm it up, the engine oil is designed the lubricate at lower temps but better at operating temps, that's why you drive easy till its at 160. Then have fun, as to the OP the clicking who knows could be any number of things
