Clutch Slip
i was just reading through this thread and was thinking the same thing lol
some ppl are just dumb. plain and simple
When accelerating, you should ALWAYS be in the proper gear to do so, which often means downshifting. Learn and know your powerband. If you give gas and the car doesn't move, you're in too high a gear. Throw it down a gear or 2 and try again.
No problem buddy

i like the ability to have my car tuned, so that when i need to accelerate comfortably i dont need to downshift... my clutch slips a little when its colder outside... lol... but in 5th gear i usually cruise at 75, then ease onto the gas to eventually get 100 % throttle...

With my current mods, at 75mph, a rapid flooring of the throttle will lead to clutch slippage as soon as the boost hits near 20lbs.
I understand that, my point I was trying to make is that you shouldn't be flooring it in 5th gear. You told him it was okay to floor it as long as you do it slowly. Well no matter how slow you floor it, you will still generate the full boost amounts when you eventually floor it, which will lead to the clutch slipping, which is bad.
my clutch slips when i try to pass people in a high gear, but i plan on getting a new clutch, i dont really like revv'ing the **** outta my car cause i feel like im gonn break something. even when im passing at WOT i shift at like 5grand, so going 50mph, i would most likely go to 3rd instead of 2nd, and that would be enough for my clutch to slip while passing

Nothing if you are going 130 mph. Otherwise it is just loading up the motor a ton. GDI is not very efficient at lower RPM high load situations that is why some companies like Toyota have a hybrid motor that is both GDI and MPI.
Ive been working on the tune so you can lay on 5th gear. Pulls like a champ! I def wouldn't do it from 50-60 tho LOL. Usually around 80-90 and I can lay on it pretty good! Drops the speedo quite fast LOL!
What if I am accelerating quickly???? Just saying, thats a awfully general statement that doesnt apply to everyone.
I agree, typically that is the case. Sometimes tho Im just sitting back, 1 hand on the wheel relaxing and its nice to be able to just give it some gas and go (like it should be able to do). So I made it so I can, and its nice

Do you seriously consider your acceleration in 5th at 75 to be quick? even if it's quicker than other cars, come on man, you know what I mean. If you want to accelerate quickly at 75 you drop it to 3rd.
