Thats your OPINION. I will take a vid of how fast it drops the speedo in 5th, I think you will be surprised.

And Im not saying the car is as fast WOT in 5th compared to if I downshifted and ran out each gear. Im just saying that you CAN got WOT in 5th and the car reacts just fine, IF you are tuned for it.

Yea, if I just WOT from a cruise it slips like mad!! If I ease into it to get the boost up and the car moving, then slowly goto WOT, the car pulls hard and clutch doesnt slip.

I used ~50% throttle til it boosted up and started moving well, then WOT at around 100. Drops the speedo ok

It actually sounds like it slips to me between 95-100 mph? Maybe it's just me ?

I never said it doesnt slip. Someone else posted why not just downshift instead of lugging the car in 5th. I said it accels pretty damn good, they didnt believe. So there is the vid, pulls pretty good in 5th...

Mine does too at those speeds but I hardly ever cruise faster than 50-60 so if I pass I normally use 3rd or 4th.

any of the FI cobalts pull "pretty good" in 5th above 80mph. and especially over 100 lol. Do you consider that pull to be Fast?

Like I said, our definitions of "pretty good" are just different. Do that same pull in 3rd shifting to 4th, then tell me how good it pulls in 5th. Maybe i didn't fully explain myself.

No, not at all. Just saying I dont have to downshift to accel and pass people.... There's nothing wrong with just using 5th gear.

Our cars make peak torque approx 1000 to 1500 rpms sooner than the SC cobalts do so that does help but I still downshift mine if I want to accelerate fast. That heavy load can induce knock on even the most conservative timing tables.

This is why I expanded the Timing tables to 280 Loads. This way you can dial in the spike area while maintaining an aggressive timing otherwise.
