dont know how ofter it has to be explained on here, but U DONT NEED TO BE IN COMP MODE FOR NO LIFT SHIFT. u can do it whenever u want no matter what mode u are in. the only reason it doesnt work for some people is because they dont know how to shift.

How fast do you really have to be with your shifting to do it properly?

Faster than one second. After that, it reverts back to normal shifting. If you're taking more than a second to shift under hard acceleration, then you suck anyway.

Wow.. in a thread that specifically mentions to RTFM up a bit... followed by someone posting pictures of the manual that specifically answers them, these questions are still asked...

nor mine. They gave me a crappy piece of paper that had a few things about turning the ESC off, but nothing really helpful. Thanks for posting up those images of the manual!!

My 2009 SS/TC was my first manual/stick and It wasn't that hard for me to do for the first time like a month after driving.

If you do the NLS correctly, you should hear a clicking/poping sound coming from your exhaust area. I usually try to start my shift at 6,000 RPMs when performing a NLS

Thank you Turbaltss! I've read just about every thread about the nls. Alot of times people made comments like "just read the manual idiot!". I searched my entire (2008) manual and all the paperwork I got with my car and found nothing. Finally, a clear-cut answer that nobody can argue with! It's in the new freaking manual people! Maybe now we can all stop asking the same question over and over.

If you go to GMOwnerCenter.yahoo.com and regsiter (existing Yahoo accounts work) you can add a 2009 Cobalt as "your vehicle" and download the manuals. If you have an 09 and want to verify - do the opposite. Add a 2008 CObalt, and download the 2008 manual.

I'd upload them somewhere, but I'm on a ship in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico

if you go around a turn (like 90 degree) and punch the gas in 2nd with all systems active, you'll notice there is like NO throttle response until the wheels are straight... if its in comp mode, you'll notice a GREAT increase in responce, and if you turn systems off, you can get a little chirp untill your LSD (that you better have) kicks in...
