What's the highest you have managed to get so far?Purely a curious comparison question.I have seen mine as high as 205,but i dunno what that means since i dunno what the thermostat is set to kick in at...

Probably set at 205 or so. Alot of stock vehicles are somewhere in that neighborhood

210. I think that the thermostat is open but the fan isnt running, Id be curious to know the exact temps. That was stuck in Washington in August for hours. I didnt know how high she might go so I just turned the heat and cooled it off.

Thanks,ya,i guess i did post this in the right section, but thought it more a general question..

Ok..if it's a 205 stat,i feel good.I was just wondering as it has been bakin hot here. Also,i am wondering how loud the fan is on these balts?I have'nt heard mine while driving(like,at a stop, even). On my previous ride,it was obvious when it ws kickin in...

Oh,and i just wanted to say that since i am still in the break in period,i have been following the guidelines,so this is just from some quick spurts to 5k in 95 weather and high humidty.I know some of you may be running it harder, but it gives me a good feel for where i should be depending...

199 is the highest for me so far

I think engines make higher power with lower temps (not much) and better emissions with higher temps... ? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Higher engine temps tend to make N/A cars go slower due to the heating of the incoming air, when you really dig into it, its not that simple. I can't find what I'm looking for, but back when I was in Formula SAE people were looking at heat rejection vs. power output to find the optimal coolant temp. There was a point where going too low caused lower power.

There are other considerations besides emissions and power though. At lower coolant/engine temps the oil doesn't get as hot and the condensation and acids that build up in the oil don't get evaporated as quickly. I tend to leave coolant temps alone on a car as a result of this since I care more about longevity than a 1-2 hp gain.

I would take that in to the dealer - it should not run that cool! There is something wrong there.

I would bet money on the t-stat being 195 degree. Highest ive seen is 210ish, but usually hovers right around 190-200, which would indicate a 195 degree t-stat.
