Data logging equipment questions

Ok so I was looking into data logging equipment. I know you have hardware/software like HP tuner and all that but... I was looking at stuff you can get for phones and ipods that are wireless connections to the mobile device via a bluetooth OBDII connection device. Has anyone used any of that stuff to datalog? Does it even work like a normal computer app or is it crap? I was just wondering because it is so much easier to just have your phone in the car rather than a big ass laptop that can get tossed around pretty easy and break. I know stuff like the Dashdaq can log also but if I'm gonna spend that kind of money I might as well just get HP tuning stuff.

Most of the other data loggers will not allow you to log GM specific info. Also, with the other loggers, you'll have to use a spreadsheet to calculate MAF corrections. You can't just pick a few points where something like LTFT is off a bit. You have to get hundreds of data points and chart, graph, and then modify.

At any rate, if you're going to bother data logging, you might as well be able to fix what you're logging.

Those bluetooth devices are around $25 on ebay and the software is free on android(torque), not much of a loss imo.

Yea I hear that. I'm just going to save up for HP tuners stuff. I have a couple cars I'm going to tart logging and tuning. I figure that will be best since they have the intermediate hardware unit that data logs without the laptop actually in the car. Or maybe I read it wrong, it was rather late at night when I was looking at it.
