Dipstick full level?

Dumb question perhaps, but I just got the car from a dealership, who changed the oil before I picked it up. Oil is perfectly clean but when checking it (using directions in the owner's manual, engine warm etc.) the level is above the upper hatch-marked region. Actually it's just below the wire portion of the dipstick.

Did they overfill my crankcase??? Or is this the full level you guys have been experiencing on your cars?

Thanks,

Chris

ya. personally we should choose 1 or the other and use it across both canada and the states. would make life soo much easier haha. but either way its 5quarts that goes into it. which is weird and makes you think what exact differences they made from the 2.0 ss/sc to the 2.0 ss/tc to shave off a whole quart.

oil cooler would increase and there is none in either of them that i'm aware of. only thing i can think of is they put a smaller oil pan on the LNF compared to the LSJ

The LNF and LSJ both have oil coolers. Its the weird looking sandwich bolted to the side of the oil filter housing and the block. Its an oil to water cooler.

If the oil level is at the top line of the hash marks you're fine. That's basically the proper level for it to be at.

I've noticed that the car has to be on perfectly level ground to get a good reading as well..... I know thats common sense but it's amazing how little of an incline/decline can throw off the reading.

For sure... I suspected that's what the problem was at first, but I keep getting high readings no matter the surface. I'd better loosen the drain plug and let some dribble.
