Do I need more than 1 TUNE?

One for road racing and one for dragracing on the TC?

On my 03 Cobra I have no less than 3 TUNES with pulleys to keep it running at the peak.

What do you guys think?

As being a noob with turbo I can't say many tunes will be the best option. I had an SVT Focus and I had two tunes, one for track and strip. The mid-range power was totally different plus I had an adjustable cam gear so that changed the whole situation. With these cars especially the torque being at the low RPM's I would say that a different tune might not be beneficial. That mid-range torque + LSD will get ya around corners plus that always will transfer to the strip where the power band is totally different than out N/A and Supercharged cars.

I know for the strip it is all about max boost/power, but that is probably not a good idea on the track running wide open for 20 - 30 mins at a time. Or can these car handle that?

it can.... they are made for that... it has forged everything exept pistons... just in case u didnt know... the 08 cobalt ss/tc broke record on norburing in its class being the fastest car under 25K.... if you are going to take it to the track.... dont change suspension.... just put sway bars and roll cage.... but it has one of the best suspensions tunes.... get it, drive it, enjoy it!

For a long time I was set on getting an STI for our second car but then I saw the 08 Lightning Lap article and started looking at the 08/09 Cobalt. I've spent two months reading/searching all the reviews on the web and as a track junky the Cobalt almost a natural choice.
This car was designed for track use and that is why I ordered it.
I plan to start with some BFG R1's or Hoosier R6's with RBF600 brakefluid and Grand Sport GS2 pads and see how she goes.

My concern is, 18 - 22 psi for 30mins wide open? anyone...

The GM stage kit sees that much boost, so you will be fine with the modifications you've mentioned.
