Doing the unthinkable

Found a disgusting deal on a Sky redline. I was going to sell the balt and get a vette, but honestly, i like this car alot. Rwd...

1) What is the stock limits for the drivetrain, rear axles and clutch in the redline or gxp?

2) What are the gear ratios for 7400rpms limits, aka what speed do you max out on in each gear (good for choosing a turbo. Cobalt had perfect ratios...)

3) I want a 3 guage pod for the front like my cobalt though, where can i find one?

Cheers.

Just buy a C6, go to Champion Motorsport for one of their 1000+hp pkg built and call it a day.

ya blowing a c6 z06 does just that. Not a bad choice Raver, they have their shortcomings. Dave Gilbert knows a lot about them.... trans is good, needs a clutch and a SMF, NOT SPEC. lol
C6 is better though. Cant beat killer deal /stop selling all your LNF goodies. I do have an oil seperator for them, and they do coke the valves well.

No three gauge pods, DIY

Finial drive ratios on the getrag 645 differential are available but to best optimize ratios a T56 ot T6060 is needed. Stick with stock till you break it... its harder to do than you think.

Well. I bought one. Truck has got to go to a new home soon. Cobalt is still being parted out minus the new motor.

They are a rwd cobalt, **** interior, ZERO and I mean zero trunk space. You have room for a briefcase and a football at the most. Body is flexy, needs the under car brace if you make any good power or the window cracks from body flex.

otherwise awesome cars. Weak rear ends, but you can swap in center sections from cts-v's and they make 1000hp axles as well. t56 swap if you make good power, coils and sways make it a go kart like ride. I've driven a few gxp's and an ls3 swapped one. Wouldn't ever own one, no spare tire, and no trunk kill it for me.

God they are sexy as fuckkk. Love it already and i get it friday. Bit of a chick car, but i think some black wide rims and meaty tires will take care of that.

There is JUST enough trunk space for a nitrous bottle for track days :P

PS...Christian..thank you

Thank god its a Sky at least, ... always really disliked the front facia of the Solstice. That's coming from someone who owned a GTO too heh.

Hopefully you like it. I owned NB/NC Miata's as my DD's for a long time and I finally got to an age where that **** just doesn't work for me anymore. Different cars, but similar livability issues

Congrats on the purchase. I bought a Solstice GXP to replace my SS/TC and haven't looked back. I wanted a Sky Redline myself but just couldn't justify it for 2 reasons. 1) KBB on them is/was $2k (over 10%) more for the exact same car (year, miles, options). 2) I just couldn't get over the rear end on them. Their front ends look better than the Solstice, but I just couldn't tolerate the goofy design of the rear bumper, tailights, and spoiler . It is a super fun car. Light, rwd, short wheelbase, tight turning radius. I'll tell you, it makes for quite the fun machine when it comes to drifting around round abouts haha.

Like previously said, get a tunnel brace (aka Backbone) first to help stiffen the car. I'm currently sporting a ZFR and bolt ons at 24 psi and the clutch is holding like a champ. Idk what the ratios are, but it has to be real close to the Cobalt because I feel like I'm shifting at the same points.

A hint on the trunk space issue: if you know how to pack, the trunk will never be an issue. I took my Solstice on a nice, almost week long road trip and had no problem. We even cruised through the mountains with the top down. Just pack everything loose in small bags and you will be able to fit stuff in all the nooks and crannies. You're not going to fit a gigantic backpack or duffel bag back there.

Ya. I test drove it for 100 km couple days ago. Pretty much the same gear ratios as the cobalt on the 3.82. Maybe revs 50 to 100 rpms more. I was sold. Nice drive. Everyone looking at you in the car.

I think the Solstice/Sky will be collector's items before the Cobalt ever will. Especially the hardtop car that I NEVER see.
