Downpipe questions?!?

Looking into purchasing a high flow catted downpipe. I currently have a zzp 3" catless downpipe and thanks to new jersey and their stupid inspections i failed. Im weighing out my options of getting a catted down pipe versus adding a cat. The guy said he didnt notice a cat so a gutted cat is an option too. My question is if the downpipe is the same diameter would a high flow cat require a retune? Or can I swap the downpipes or add a cat without worry?

If you have the option to re-tune for free Do it. Otherwise really not noticeable in the "Butt Dyno" I swapped from a ZZP Catless to ZZP Catted due to inspection and it made my LNF exhaust a tad louder...loved it.

didnt have any issues with the car? Im gonna be doing the same swap. Sounds like a good trade off! Ill hold off on the tune till after my clutch then and install a new downpipe. If anyone has any more info id appreciate it!

You won't need a re-tune, could you get one yes, needed no. Did you fail vehicle inspection or emission? If you failed emissions that's odd, here in md they just plug you up to the obd2 and if you have no cel and all your readiness cycles are ok you pass.

one my readiness cycles were off idk why I havent reset my cels at all! I passed emissions. I failed due to tampering. They use cameras to view undercar. They saw no cat of course.
