im wondering if its possible to wire in a second ecu, that is hidden on ur car somewhere, and have a switch that u can switch between the 2 whenever. i guess the switch would control power to the ecu, that would be pretty cool.

you guys sure they can detect it cause i had my car tuned flashed it back to stock and disconnected battery...its in for warranty work right now and they havent detected it

I think it depends on what kind of warrenty work. If you have a CEL, i believe they "go to the tape" as they like to say. But apparently i called a local speed shop and asked about a tune on my new ECM, I asked about flashing and stuff and they said "you can flash your ECM back to stock for warrenty work, and the dealers can see that you flashed it but they dont know why. They can assume you had a tune but really have no proof" but id recommend a spare ECM to avoid the whole situation

yea i knew that much but if you disconnect your battery for 20-30 minutes it resets you flash counter at least thats what i was told if anyone knows differently let me know

all i know is when i disconnect my battery and reconnect it and try to start my car it acts as if i just put a new PCM in. It cranks but doesnt start. so i have to turn the key off and recrank and then it starts

It doesn't really matter which you do. The new one will have your VIN and everything, so it's the exact same as the one you had originally. People just buy it, and tune it, but I didn't want to wait.

Rissa is probobly right. but I had a CEL back in the day and brought it to the dealer and they said "yea you had a misfire in cylinder 3 about a month ago" and since then im like, well....now if i bring it in and i have no history maybe theyll be like....hmmm?

im sure other people sell them or you can probobly just buy one online. ISnt there an link in the beginning of this thread. It just wont have your VIN number in it but im sure it will work just fine. will probobly do a clutch relearn like some people are talking about but idk wtf a clutch relearn is so whatever

the guy i talked to here said no relearn and it will have your vin number. its a couple bucks more than the guy on here selling them...i was planning on getting it but had a blow out and ended up buying my invos with the money.
