EXEDY Hyper Single install!!!!!!!!!!!!

This past weekend I did an install for Exedy USA.

They wanted to verify if the LSJ Hyper Single clutch/flywheel would work on the LNF.

Well............ IT DOES WORK.

Install was smooth, all the clearances and throws are within acceptable spec, and no problems were encountered during install or in the test vehicles road test.

Dont take my word for it though, I am sure the tester will chime in soon, it was installed on Steddy2112's car.

So, call up Tom at Crate Engine Depot and tell him you need a clutch slave cylinder and 8 flywheel bolts, then call Josh or Sean at OTTPerformance and tell 'em you need a Hyper Single.

I may have done the work but you guys need to thank John at Powell Race Shop and Evan and Bernie at ExedyUSA for getting this done.

Anyone who has the money, this should up there with a tune.

Stock clutch feel is absolute garbage...this fixes it.

There are a few high whp Cobalts with this exact clutch

OTTP has these for right around 1100 which is cheaper than anything of the equivalent.

There is no such thing as 'cheap' and 'doing it right'.

If you wanted to stop clutch slip on an LNF, just learn to drive the clutch...because I only got slip on a stocker when I would mash the go pedal at like 2500 with an agressive DAL map down low.

Don't forget to get rid of the meow...IMO a catelss DP will add more than charge piping.

J is for Jam

I highly suggest this.

Whoever does get it, don't be a douche, break in the clutch.

I have a small list of things that are being thrown onto the balt as soon as I get it. parts included, but not limited to are as follows...
charge pipes
tune
full 3" exhaust incl. DP<--still debating catless or not...I have emissions to deal with
turbo upgrade maybe
clutch
and a very special appearance mod to be named after it's done

If you are tuned, don't get a catted DP.

Keep your stocker for inspections.

That's what ppl keep saying, but will the stocker just bolt to any aftermarket exhaust I might have on there?

Why wouldn't it?

Unless you go completely custom...which there really isn't any point to.

Well i've never messed around with an exhaust before. Was gonna get one on the ss/sc but changed my mind and its a good thing cuz now I have more $$ for the t/c. But yea, I've never dealt with a full exhaust before so it's all jibberish to me

Yes it will fit.

All the aftermarket downpipes and exhausts fit with the stock components.

Once you see how to change a downpipe it takes all of 15 minutes to do it.

Yea i dont have any clutch slip yet, but im not tuned yet. but my new ECM comes today, so it was just for future refrences. And you say you cant go cheap and still do it right, but i dont know that much about clutches for the fact I have not had to deal with them yet, luckily, but i know theres clutches, then aluminum flywheels and such. I would love to drop 1100 on a clutch and then 400 on an install, but I was just wondering if theres another option such as just getting a new flywheel or something like that.

The flywheel isn't the issue causing slip.

And when you buy a Hyper Single you get the clutch and flywheel...whereas spec you need to order a flywheel as well.

ALSO

The Exedy flywheel is as light as the aluminum flywheels...but is cromoly steel...which is stronger.

In terms of complete package, it doesn't get better than the HyperSingle IMO.

i was thinking about the exedy single...how is the driveability on it though? is it real smooth or is it more of a drag clutch which can make it real tough to shift...

Better than the stock garbage.

The pedal is stiffer, but engagement and drivability are WAAAAY better.
