Not really, well not like the srt4 but a cobalt with a aftermarket turbo you can hear it good.

^^lol

I like the idea of a side exit exhaust.. But just curious if anyone has done this with a catted downpipe, and added a muffler or resonator?? To make it a little less deafening for a daily driver

I had always thought if i had a SS/TC id do catless to a y pipe with an electric cutout on one side that is inline with a straight pipe to come out infront of the rear tire, and then still have you regular exhaust so as to not lose the hole in the bumper and to have a decent everyday setup.

And i saw a car before, might have been on here at a hellaflush meet and it had no rear exhaust and some stupid teddy bear hanging upside down where the tip wouldve been. it was different to say the least.

X2... I haven't yet have a chance to hear it under spool because the car is still under the cover. But once the snow is gone, I will find out. Just revving it in the driveway and I can hear my s256 in full song. Definitely a good option to have. I put in on the zzp dp before my cat as you see in the pic. I just don't have any other option for it except in that location.

I don't have room on my downpipe because I bought the cut out that is on the y pipe. I have mine tucked up underneath the middle of the car. I did have to take a rotary tool and make a spot for the motor on the electronic cut out to fit.

My SS/TC had one when I bought it along with a catless DP, still have it until I can afford to get a new one. It is really loud on cold start and when engine braking like coming up on a red light. It does sound really nice when you are at a low RPM because you can hear the turbo spool up and it does sounds like a diesel lol. It's just really loud and I want something quieter.

Aside from the obvious fact that it's loud as ball, the side exit with a catless dp sounds great at idle and wot, but sounds like absolute crap at part throttle accelleration. I had this setup on my car for about 2 hours before it got old and ripped it off.

It does however sound pretty good with the stock dp but it's really pretty pointless at that point

it may sound like crap with just normal driving but the gains you get from getting rid of all those restrictions and bends in the exhaust are very worth it.

Can not be done that way. There is not a track for the exhaust to tuck away in on both sides. Only the driver side.

You dont gain anything, The current exhaust I have now made 501whp with it and 502whp with open down pipe. And it has a muffler and exits out the back. The only benefit is about a 20lbs weight loss.

you mean to tell me you dont gain anything when you get rid of bends and a res and a muffler? Sorry but I find that hard to believe. I could have sworn i have seen people prove the hp gain on dynos from cut out at downpipe compared to full exhaust. I honestly feel like there is a difference. but maybe the turbo spoils quicker when its open pipe, i dunno. Anyone else want to chime in?
