Today I got a ticket for excessive noise. He pulled me for it popping slightly going down a small hill at 1500 rpm in 3rd. I'm running a catless downpipe and muffler delete with the resonator. A friend of mine has a MPX catback and my question is if I put my stock DP with the MPX exhaust on is it gonna be almost stock quiet long enough for him to look at it and then me put my catless dp back on? He looked under it and saw it didn't have mufflers so I need to have something back there because he told me he wanted to see it before court and that he would be watching for it to see if i've fixed it. Also does the MPX and catless have a good sound can't tell from the videos. Thanks

 

I'd just put a muffler on it cause that's what he didn't see.B easier than the cat and you still wouldn't have a muffler which he has already pointed out.

He ticked you for a popping exhaust? lol has he ever heard of a turbo? if you throw on your stock dp and your buddies mpx exhaust it should be plenty quiet enough.

 

I was pulled over for exhaust when I had it completely stock and he gave me a ticket for tint instead even though it was legal for the state it was registered in. Now that I've got a catless and 3inch mpx I make sure I keep it in a higher gear when I see the five-0 haven't had a problem yet and I'm not going to change it.

 

i dont understand why people take the muffler off, its loud and annoying, u want ur car to sound good not loud and annoying. and u wont gain enough hp to matter anyway

 

That what I'm running it's pretty quiet but still pops through 1st,2nd and 3rd. I love it

 

I love the way it sounds now its not really loud at all in my opinion. My camaro and trans am both are alot louder than it during daily driving but it screams when in boost. He got behind me and noticed the tinted windows, no front tag, tag covers, but the exhaust is all he wrote me for. He said he heard it "backfiring" and he knew a cobalt wasn't suppose to do that. I'm gonna buy the MPX off my friend, hes wanting 350 for it and he only used it about 2 monthes. once the ticket gets thrown out im gonna put the catless one back on and run full MPX. I would just stick my stock muffler back on and my catted dp but he told me he didn't want to see me 2 weeks later with that back on there and I have to go by him everyday of my life pretty much.

 

You're asking to get pulled over with those mods. Ditch the stupid tag covers and lack of a front tag.

 

Back when I had my SRT-4 that thing popped like crazy with the stock exhaust. My car is quieter with no muffler than that car was stock.

 

i had pops on my stock exhaust as well... the mpx matched with a catless is a great pair
