Factory Airbox Mod
heat the coupler up and stretch it... then when it cools it will get smaller for a tight fit
I should be getting a used aem intake in the mail soon. I will just use the coupler for now and stow the aluminum tube and filter away for when hpt can do something about our intake issuse. I am also going to do the lower airbox mod. I am stoked!
Just thought I'd share some info: the AEM coupler is available seperately from the kit for 160.00 at summit racing part number is 5-6821. No BS I ordered it myself, installed it tonight and not only does the turbo sound happier the car even before complete relearn is pulling noticeably harder. Not bad for something that's cheaper than an SRI that the car doesn't like anyway.
i would really like to do this when ever i get the stage one.

unplug MAF sensor
remove filter and stock lid
unbolt 2 bolts at top of filter box
remove one bolt at fog light on bracket
remove the PITA push clip
dremel at snorkel bend ---> remove bend only
cut off bracket (not too close since you'll create a hole in the inlet
shove new inlet into factory opening
place screw in to keep in place.
does anyone have a pic on the snorkle before it was cut? i havent been down there enough to know what it looks like.
let me re-word that
cuz i see the pic in the OP, i just want a pic of what it looks like in the car before the mod please. so i dont have to go and take out my headlight. haha.

i was thinking about running the snorkle to the font of the car but up a little above the bottom grill and using the cold air the comes up from under the car and building a box around the cone filter at the end of the tube that velcro's shut for when it rains
If I do this mod should I get the K&N dropin or is that a 2 for 1 if you need to replace it anyway? I have only 4,000 on my car so unless it's a necessity/good idea I wouldn't go buy the air filter.
