No, not really. It will skew the A/F a tad but only about 2-3%. If you want any power gains with this mod however you need a tune.

I just updated the first post with more pictures and used the cheaper method with no coupler required to connect the snorkel.

Why couldnt you just remove the snorkel part period?

Also, is it pointless without the AEM coupler?

The part we are calling a snorkel has a radiused inlet for smoother air entry. It also helps to draw in cooler air from the fenderwell rather than engine bay air.

In our testing, the AEM coupler is good for about 6whp and the airbox mod is good for about 5whp. This was on a ~300whp setup. Higher hp cars should pick up a little more for these mods.

Do you suppose the coupler causes enough turbulence to be concerned with?

I have the coupler but it hasn't caused any issues that I'm aware of. The filter in the box should straighten it out anyway I think.

Anyway, perhaps it's just an easier solution for those who are about to do it.

Well its not a ram air deal so to say, but it keeps my intake temps closer to ambient than my Hahn CAI got.

here are the pics:

I cut the velocity stock off and mounted it to a flexible 3 1/4'' tube that I connected to the Airbox. I did have the tube connected to my fog light hole, but I missed having two foglights (-= so I just mounted it above the fog light.

Thanks Drewbroo! Idk what I was expecting but I didn't think a coupler was going to cost $166 bucks! I think I'll go without the coupler and give up the 1 whp haha

The AEM piece is a full silicone replacement tube for the restrictive tube GM put in, it goes from turbo to the airbox. To make full use of the airbox mod you need this.

We are working on a less expensive alternative. No concrete info yet, but hopefully soon.

Just finished the intake mod with the snorkel I threw together, and the AEM Turbo to Airbox Coupler. And wow, a huge noticeable difference. Thanks ZZP, the 167.00 in parts was totally worth it. It pulls much harder than with my Hahn.

where did you get that for 167. and you got the piece that goes behind the aem intake that connects to the turbo.
