factory intercooler

Ok I am looking at products and about ready to order a few things and after looking at a few intercoolers I was wondering how efficient the factory one really is? If you don't plan on doing a turbo upgrade and just plan on getting about 325-350 horsepower is a new intercooler really necessary. I mean if it would help significantly with cooler with pushing all that extra horsepower out then I will buy one but i was just wondering if anyone really knows

Very true unless you end up hotlapping in the 1/4.. BUT with your HP goals I think it would definately be worth it for long term reliability of your car.

I would agree with that statement... As long as the HP level is less than ~325

an upgraded IC will dissapate heat better especially in 90 degree summer heat in traffic, as well a flowing better than the stocker, better boost response

the stocker gets heat soaked very fast

I see. And which intercooler would you recommend? And don't say the one that i think everyone is going to say because I am not spending $800 on an intercooler.

There is Hahn and synapse. If you want to modify your stock bumber and such (not a direct fit) go with synapse, if you want it cheaper. If you want a 100% OEM fit, your choice would be Hahn. They are the only one (that we know of) that designed the IC to fit the stock setup.

Did not know they made an intercooler, let alone, no modifications to fit...

I think it would be benificial to upgrade your ic and piping. Plastic sucks. Not just for performance but also reliability and durability. Case in point, I scraped something with my ss and ended up damaging the intercooler and and piping because of plastic ends and plastic pipes, and had to replace both...definately upgrade bro.

x2

I broke the plastic end on my intercooler, got the Hahn and it works and fits great. I can't see myself going to anyone else before Bill, because IMHO his quality is the best and his customer service is phenomenal. I plan on getting his charge piping, CAI and downpipe asap, along with a tune , muffler delete and the stage kit. I'm most likely going to have to have my tune done by psykosteve tho, cuz I hear very good things about him, and AZ is much more reasonable than IL. haha
