Forge BPV Question?
Forge BPV Question?
I wanted to know if anyone has tried different positions for the Forge BPV? I installed it with the opening down towards the opening in the turbo but im thinking maybe you can get better sound if you face it up so it reverberates, just like you get better sound from a speaker in a ported box?

Yep.... bad idea. I can't remember exactly but I think it's in the install directions to make sure it's pointing down.
As far as sound, I think you'd get better sound pointing down anyway because it goes straight towards the intake and inlet of the turbo. I have the Forge Bypass (pointing down!!!) and K&N and the sound is loud as *****!
It works with a speaker in a ported box because they are carefully calculated dimensions to work with specific speakers and such. It's not quite a plug and play kind of science.

you can put the nipple anyway you want, thats why they made it like that. The old one used to jus point out, mine faces the opposite direction of yours
yea nipple dosnt matter as long as the opening is facing down. With the opening up it causes flutter...my nipple just happens to face the firewall when the opening is down.
The opening of the Forge must point down, well unless you like broken compressor fins. Having it that direction keeps the airflow relatively smooth and keep you from having BPV surge issues which break things.
I would stick with the softer spring personally. When I tested the stiffer spring I got a bit of flutter at part throttle, plus the softer spring reacts quicker to boost/vac changes with different throttle positions.
thanks man. You have been a lot of help lately for me
So running GMS1 on forge unit installed exactly how the picture is above wth the green spring installed doesn't make anywhere near as much noise as stock BPV and sometimes i feel like if i let of at 5-10 psi its not even making any noise. Ive gotten two of the p22xxx codes from faulty BPV in the last month of it like that. In addition, put stock tune back on and it wouldnt work AT ALL, still in vacuum no boost just touching the gas in traffic and a major loud surge noise, some 14 year old kid yelled "SICK!" thinking that it was cool like you see in all those supra/big turbo car vids.....Its not sick its broken LOL got a CEL on 2 blocks down the road from it. So the question is.....
Why?
Gunna remove today and inspect.
