fuel injector cleaning?
I got a call from the stealership today about my 50,000km service. my car only has 39,000km on it right now as it's in storage for the winter. they recommended that i do the fuel injector cleaning with my regular maintenance/service when i take it out in the spring.
does this car really require a fuel injector cleaning this soon? i feel like they are trying to rake me over the coals here and empty my pockets trying to give me service that my car probably does not need at this point.
anyone had theirs cleaned? what mileage where you at? does anyone know if the injectors would even need to be cleaned this soon? when does the service manual say it is required on the maintenance schedule? mine is in my glovebox where the car is stored.
Thanks

I've personally never paid to have injectors cleaned. Use top-tier fuel and occasionally use some injector cleaner (Seafoam, Marvel Mysery Oil, Shell V-power, AMSoil P.I.).... say maybe once every 3 months. That's all you really need.
It's a gimmick, don't fall for the dealer "recommendations".
But definitely put some sort of fuel stabilizer in a full tank of fuel before you store it, and let it run to get into the system completely. This will reduce chances of any problems when you get ready to start driving it again.

They up-sold me on this when I was in for my power steering recall at ~22k km (said it needs to be done at 25,000 km anyways). They called it the fuel system clean it was $100 but they clean everything not just the fuel injectors I beleive the product they use is similar to Seafoam. I just had them do it because in the event any part of my fuel system fails and I try to claim warranty they can't hold it against me that I didn't have the fuel system cleaned at 25k by GM approved methods.

wait... I just noticed this is in the LNF section, so direct injection.... you don't have traditional fuel injectors
I don't know then, you may not have to deal with all that, like said just use good fuel and should have no issues

I can't recommend anything for the LNF, but I gave my LSJ a fuel injector service/upper engine clean at 92,000km last summer and I honestly swear that my highway mileage doubled, but city economy stayed the same. I work at a stealership tho, so I get it fo free.
Seafoam, Marvel Mysery Oil, Shell V-power, AMSoil P.I. and equivalents will not ever touch my car.

It is realy not the injector that clogs it is the filter in the injector.. the cleaning with seafoam will clean the carbon off the face if their is any which could impair the spray pattern, running detergent fuels keep injector faces clean..
i have pics somewhere of a set of injectors i cleaned before and aft from a yamaha outboard, i can clean bosh style injectors but not high pressure DI injectors..
ultrasonic cleaner..followed up by otc injector cleaner..
before..
after..

with direct injection and the fuel pressure being so high i doubt these injectors would be able to clog anyways lol anyone who knows... chime in!!!

3oz of Redline and 4oz of MMO. I figure it can't hurt and may help with fuel pump and injector cleaning and lubrication. With DI, it's the back of the intake valves that get carbon build up, which would normally be cleaned off with injector cleaner and gas itself.
The paper on Redline does state, however, that it *survives the combustion process* and gets another shot at the intake through PCV, which *could* help clean the valves..who knows?
